Michigan recruit blows up opening weekend for 6 TDs, breaks school’s 18-game losing streak to rival

If you were looking for the first truly out-of-his-mind prep football performance of the 2013 season, look no further.

In Berea (Ky.) Madison Southern High's 41-13 rout of Mt. Vernon (Ky.) Rockcastle County High, Michigan recruit Damien Harris completely ran over Rockcastle. Harris finished with 23 carries for 210 yards and five touchdowns on the ground, then returned a kick for a sixth touchdown. You can see video of that return above.

Even more incredible than Harris' 38 points -- he also was successful on a two-point conversion -- were that they all came in the second half. In fact, Harris gained just 18 yards in total in the first half, then broke loose and never stopped when his team switched to a modified wildcat formation in the third quarter.

According to the Richmond Register, the Madison Southern victory was the first against Rockcastle in 19 games between the foes, with Harris proving the decisive factor in keeping Madison Southern's losing streak to its local opponent from closing on two full decades of losses.

"The last two years we’ve struggled with consistency throughout the game and sealing in the third and fourth quarters when we lead in games. That was not a problem tonight," Madison Southern football coach Jon Clark told the Register. "This was a physical game and our guys got up and in the third and fourth quarter we were the more physical team and that’s what matters. When we needed to turn it up, we turned it up."

There's little question that Harris turned it up, as you can see above. Future opponents might want to study the game film from his one-man deconstruction of Rockcastle. Above all else it proved that even stacking the line against the superstar junior can't hold him forever, just slow him down.
