Forget Alfonso Soriano's recent hot streak. Put him on the bench. He can't keep up with a 12 year old.

As reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Las Vegas native Trace Evans hit home runs in 11 consecutive official at-bats during a massive nationwide tournament held at the Cooperstown Dreams Park in Cooperstown, N.Y., near the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame.

Evans was competing for the Las Vegas Baseball Academy Lightning, which he led to a tournament title by hitting 11 home runs in 14 straight trips to the plate, with only a sacrifice fly and two walks mixed in around the long balls.

"In my 46 years of playing at every level and coaching I have never seen anything like this," LBVA Lightning coach Mike Martin, a former catcher for the Chicago Cubs, texted to a friend during one game at the tournament.

"The young man has 11 consecutive home runs. It’s a new Cooperstown Dreams Park record. The old record was 9.

"This feat needs national attention. How does one see to it that this amazing feat is recognized nationally?"

The homer streak is being recognized nationally now, thanks to Martin and Evans' willingness to discuss his feats with Review-Journal sports columnist Ron Kantowski. You can read Kantowski's terrific piece in full right here, but all one really needs to understand about the streak's magnitude is that Evans himself was completely stunned by his own run.

"When I hit five in a row I was amazed," Evans told the Review-Journal.
