The start of the national signing period is a cause for celebration at high schools across the country. Basketball recruits are getting the most attention, but there are athletes signing national letters of intent in just about every sport (other than football).

For many, signing the letters is the realization of a dream they've been chasing since they first started playing their respective sport. Some signees brought their families, some brought their friends, most are flanked by banners and balloons, and all seem to be celebrating on Twitter.

Following the tweets shows just how strong some high school programs are – Bergen Catholic in N.J., for instance, has 10 lacrosse players signing today. For other schools, it's the first time they're experiencing the rush of seeing their high school star move on to a bigger stage.
