Hilarious Mini Golf Open Championship uses real British Open Claret Jug

What's better than the actual British Open Championship, which will be played from Thursday-Sunday in the United Kingdom? The Mini Golf Open Championship, an impromptu, all kids event on a mini golf course complete with faux ESPN commentators, roaring fans and the coup de grace, the hole pins and actual Claret Jug from the real British Open.

In the end, an elementary school Barcelona fan named Isaac may have become one of the first golfers to lift the Claret Jug without winning the actual Open Championship. Instead of winning on one of the world's most challenging links, he won a mini golf tournament hastily arranged by New York comedy troupe Improv Everywhere where his two siblings -- brother Max and sister Alex -- were his toughest competitors.

If the golf itself was shot with eerily accurate camera angles, the commentators' hole-by-hole descriptions are absolutely terrific. From dissecting the "speed of the greens" to the golfers' universal use of flip flops, the event was called almost as if it was the real deal.

While the entire event, which was brought to Prep Rally's attention by NBC Sports' OfftheBench, is remarkable in its attention to humorous detail, the crowning jewel of the entire set up may be Isaac's fake wife and child who come strolling on to the 18th green just before the 5:20 mark in the video above.

Of course, what Open Championship would be complete without the ceremonial lifting of the Claret Jug? Isaac does a pretty solid job of celebrating with the cup while brother Alex and his parents watch on, though one wonders if he realizes he was lifting the actual trophy to be presented at Royal Lytham & St. Anne's on Sunday.

Then again, that trophy itself may have been much less important to Isaac than the prospect of some other victory treat. Skittles perhaps. Or ice cream. On any of the recent hot days in New York, he probably wouldn't have been alone, either.
