High-flying recruit throws down impressive self-assisting slam

Prep Rally

Kedar Edwards is supposed to be a prototypical Tweener. An unranked prospect from talent-rich Brooklyn, Edwards has since migrated south with the snowbirds, taking his talents to West Oaks (Fla.) Academy for his senior season.

Make no mistake: He has talent, as he showed on this fairly incredible dunk from a recent fall circuit prospect scrimmage.

Go ahead and watch that again. Not only did Edwards toss up an alley-oop to himself off the backboard, he then sent that alley home with a thundering slam directly over an opponent, whom he had to elevate over, of course.

Before anyone critiques Edwards' ability to get up -- and, if you watch the clip closely enough, you'll notice that he gets up at least 11.5 feet -- consider this: The senior is only 6-foot-3 (on a very good day), and he took off for the slam mid-stride.

It's unknown who Edwards' victim was, but needless to say he got the worse of that 1-on-1 break.

Edwards claims that it's still too early in the recruiting process for him to be tied down to a single school, though he has emphasized a desire for early playing time as a virtual prerequisite to his commitment in the past.

That dunk certainly can't hurt his attempts to convince college coaches he's ready.
