Kamera Harris held a block party on Friday, and the entire Kathleen (Ga.) Veterans High team was invited.

The Hampton (Ga.) Dutchtown High sophomore blocked a national-record 28 shots in a 53-48 Class AAAA state tournament win over Veterans, according to the Henry Daily Herald (h/t MaxPreps). She bested the previous single-game record of 25 set by former Houston (Texas) Nimitz High star Brittney Griner in 2008.

Dutchtown coach April Tate rewatched the tape just to make sure her eyes didn't deceive her, and the second viewing reportedly confirmed all 28 and "three or four more that could've gone either way." Veterans attempted 62 field goals, and Harris blocked nearly half of them before fouling out with three minutes left.

"After hearing all the talk about this, I figured I'd better watch the film of the game and make sure we can document it all," Tate told the paper after her first playoff win. "Kamera is a tremendous shot blocker, and we're proud of the achievement. I think that this kind of success is really a testament to what we're trying to do at Dutchtown, and this just shows Kamera is one of those who has bought in to what we're trying to do."

Even more remarkable, Harris stands six inches shorter than the 6-foot-8 Griner -- a WNBA All-Star whose autograph the young Dutchtown star reportedly has on a poster in her room. Harris averages 7.5 blocks per game. She recorded double-digit blocks on six previous occasions this season, but never more than 13.
