Freshman sinks Shot of the Year contender in Mississippi playoff victory

East Union (Miss.) High freshman Ty McDonald is straight Calvin Coolidge under pressure, because it was the 30th President of the United States who once said, "Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence," and nobody was more persistent on this play than young McDonald.

After missing a free throw with seconds left before halftime, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound forward tracked down a long rebound some 40 feet from the basket and drained a ridiculous whirling 3-pointer that spurred an 88-56 playoff victory against Mississippi rival Hatley (h/t Bob's Blitz).

His teammate can't even put back a layup, and McDonald is draining no-look triples like it ain't no thing. His reaction suggests he makes this type of shot on the regular. Everyone else, meanwhile, goes nuts.
