A Southern California teen died Wednesday evening, four days after suffering a brain aneurysm during a softball game.

Dana Housley, 15, was a freshman at Etiwanda (Calif.) High School. She was playing in a club tournament game on Saturday, batting in the final inning, when she suddenly started to feel dizzy and collapsed.

Rushed to the hospital, she remained on life support as doctors and family hoped for signs of improvement. Friends started a GoFundMe page to help cover the costs of her care, raising more than $61,000, and a social media campaign with the hashtag "PrayForDana."

Wednesday, her parents posted a statement on Facebook and the GoFundMe page.

?Tonight our beautiful Dana chose to go with the Lord. We don?t yet understand his plan for her, but she will make a perfect angel,? they wrote. "Although the journey ahead for our family will be unimaginably painful, we now understand we have a family of thousands in the softball community to help us through. We will feel pain and emptiness at the loss of our baby girl, but we won?t have to feel it alone.

?As we begin the healing process, we thank you all. We will not forget your love, prayers, and support, nor will we ever forget the wonderful memories of our little girl, Dana Housley #21.?

Housley is the second teen to suffer a tragic brain aneurysm on the field this week. On Sunday, an Iowa teen collapsed on the pitcher's mound during a pick-up game in Minnesota. The Minnesota Twins honored the 15-year-old boy, Zacharie Schaubhut, with a moment of silence before playing the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.
