It's difficult to type this through the tears raining upon the keyboard, but sadly it appears Kendall Jenner's cheerleading career is over. A nationwide moment of silence will surely be held before any basket tosses or shoulder stands are performed on gridirons this fall.

According to a New York Times feature on the 17-year-old spawn of Bruce and Kris Jenner (and, yes, even the NYT keeps up with the Kardashians), the former American Cheerleader cover model has dropped out of Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon School.

It's kind of hard to cheer as a homeschooled kid traveling the world in pursuit of reality TV, fashion and modeling fame, so we'll have to keep our fingers crossed for a "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" episode featuring Kendall, 15-year-old sister Kylie and their Kardashian half-sister trio of Kim, Khloé and Kourtney cheering on Bruce, Lamar Odom and Lord Scott Disick in some sort of backyard decathlon of idiocy.

Meanwhile, the SC cheer squad picks up the pieces left by the loss of a founding member.

“At first, I was surprised at how normal and down to earth Kendall is and how organized and professional she is for a freshman in high school,” Sierra Canyon cheerleading coach David Kirschner told American Cheerleader two years ago. “She’s a very outgoing cheerleader, always coming up with new ideas to support our athletic teams and has the ability to make everyone around her smile and laugh. She’s the most hilarious cheerleader I’ve ever coached. It’s clear to me that fame certainly hasn’t gotten to her.”

Yes, clearly. How could being raised on reality television by a gaggle of Kardashians possibly get to just-your-average-teenage-cheerleader from California? Impossible.

How the Trailblazers move on without the most hilarious cheerleader in the program's history is unclear. Certainly, a Sierra Canyon football team just two years removed from the 2011 CIF Division IV state championship won't be the same. Her appearance on the cover of a national cheerleading magazine obviously propelled the team to victory.

For the moment, the equestrian community can breathe a sigh of relief. Following a brief respite after a decade of horseback riding brilliance, Kendall Jenner has returned to the sport, according to The Times. Finally, a light at the end of this prep sports tunnel.
