A troubling incident occurred on Friday in Charlotte, N.C., when the entire family of a high school basketball player assaulted an on-duty school police officer in the middle of the player's game. While the officer in question avoided serious injury in the brawl, the father who incited the brawl has been arrested, and reports have claimed that more arrests could be forthcoming.
According to WCNC News Charlotte, the fight started when the officer asked the sister of a Butler (N.C.) High player to move from the East Mecklensburg (N.C.) High side of the East Meck gym to the Butler side. Separating sets of fans in different bleachers is a fairly common and accepted practice at high school sports events, so the officer's request wasn't exactly out of the blue.
