To say that Tianna Camous set out to be a female wrestling trailblazer might be a bit of an overstatement. After all, if she was a bit bigger, she might have had things her way and played the sport she fell in love with as a girl: football.

"I had no problem with the hitting or tackling," the 5-foot-3 Camous told the Fresno Bee. "But when you're trying to defend guys a foot taller, that can be a little difficult. They'd just reach right over me and catch the ball."

As a result, the aspiring Folsom (Calif.) High cornerback stopped her football career at the junior varsity level, deciding to focus on the sport she long considered as her "other" sport: wrestling. The dominant results that have followed have not only made her one of the state's best female wrestlers of all-time, they also made her the first wrestling state champion in her school's history when she captured the 122-pound title at the California Interscholastic Federation's inaugural Girls Wrestling Invitational Tournament

One of the greatest high school basketball playoff games in Kentucky prep sports history will never be seen again, quite literally. Just hours after a five-overtime classic was completed, the teams learned that the digital disk used to film the game ran out of room after the first two overtimes.

"It was epic," Allen County-Scottsville coach James Willett told the Glasgow Daily Times. "It was an amazing thing to be a part of."

The game in question was undoubtedly an all-time classic, and is believed to be a state playoff record, tied with a five-overtime girls playoff game from 1994.

Eventually, Monroe County (Ky.) edged out Allen County-Scottsville (Ky.) High, 85-78, after five overtimes and enough dramatic endings to periods to fill a season. According to the Daily Times, the 52 minutes of game time lasted more than 2 1/2 hours, and included opportunities for both teams to wrap up a win at the free-throw line, only to fall short on one or both free throws.

Texas' University Interscholastic League did it again. Months after a series of controversial siting decisions in the state's well followed high school football playoffs, officials decided to send the top-ranked girls basketball team in Class 3A some seven hours across the state to play a game that it deserved to play on its turf ... only to see it lose to a team playing less than half that distance away, in a town it visits for occasional district matchups.

Kennedale (Texas) High's 59-53 loss to Abilene (Texas) Wylie High ended the Wildcats' season one hurdle short of the state tournament in Austin, and did so with the Wildcats forced to endure a seven-hour bus ride back to the Dallas/Fort Worth area from Texas Tech's United Spirit Arena.

The loss followed a regional semifinal which was even more a home game for Kennedale's opposition, with the Dallas/Fort Worth-area team knocking off Lubbock (Texas) Cooper, 65-47, in the same Lubbock arena where its season came to an end the

Lately, Marcus Smart has been put under the microscope for more than being one of the nation's most promising junior boys basketball prospects. In addition to spearheading Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus High's Class 5A playoff run, Smart's eligibility has been put under review, after it was revealed that he and his family were living in a house owned by an assistant coach of his AAU team, and paying a rent rate below the area's standards.

Yet the most significant reason why all that attention has attached itself to Smart is because the Dallas-area star really is that good. While the small forward has plenty of physical attributes that make recruiters drool, none stand out as much as his pure athleticism. The two dunks below show just how striking that athleticism is.

Yet Elijah Brown, the son of former Cleveland Cavaliers coach Mike Brown, is now feeling the sting of being a coaches son. The sophomore star for St. Edward (Ohio) High, is taunted nearly every game, both for his father's failure to deliver a title to Cleveland (and help keep LeBron James, in the process) and for the family's uncertain future. Each time an NBA coaching vacancy opens up, it brings questions about whether Brown would land there and relocate his family with him.

Creative Googling teenagers have caught on to the trend, leading to some unique chants when the sophomore heads to the free-throw line.

• J.J. Bosak, Andrean (Ind.) vs. Hammond Morton (Ind.): While you don't ever get to see this shot swish through the net (if you did, it would have warranted a solo post at the very least), the fact that a full-court heave tied up a heated Northwest Indiana high school game at the buzzer -- and eventually paved the way for Andrean to scrape out a victory -- is worthy of praise enough. Seriously, how did Bosak hit that shot?

• Kyle Zaffuto, Brockport (N.Y.) vs. Brighton (N.Y.): The season hasn't been too rosy for Brockport, but Kyle Zaffuto put a sheen on the team's final game with this game-winning buzzer beater from the corner, clinching a 53-52 victory over Brighton on the school's home floor.

Ray Drew will be a Georgia Bulldog. By this time next year, he'll be best known as a collegiate pass-rushing defensive end expected to have an NFL future.

None of that will change how fellow parishioners at Paradise Missionary Baptist church think of the top prospect. To them, Drew will still be a preacher first, football player second.

"I knew I wanted to preach," Drew told Sports Illustrated writer Andy Staples. "But I didn't know it was going to come that soon. ... I could have tried to run from it, but eventually it would have caught me."

Instead, Drew bit the bug at its onset, taking up the pulpit when he was still in seventh grade. The Thomas County Central (Ga.) High senior claims to idolize Reggie White, the late Hall of Fame lineman and preacher, and has no plans to stop preaching whenever he can work it into his football-dominated future.

In fact, preaching is something the top recruit has long had to work in with his hectic athletic schedule.

It may not be "Hoosiers," but it's about as close as you can get in modern-day scholastic athletics. On Tuesday night, a plucky underdog from a school of just 200 kids beat a state powerhouse with an enrollment of 1,450, and it did so with a healthy dose of fortitude and one huge clutch bucket from an oft overlooked sweet-shooting senior.

According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, Louisville (Ky.) Collegiate School's 45-43 upset over St. Xavier (Ky.) School was punctuated by "the shot heard round Louisville." With just seconds remaining in a tie game between the 25th District top-seed Tigers and also-rans Collegiate, the Titans got the ball inbounds and ran a play for captain Harris Levine, who put up a 14-foot jumper as the buzzer sounded. As you can see above, the reaction to the made bucket couldn't have been more emphatic if Gene Hackman had been playing the role of Harris' coach.
