Here’s another catch of the year candidate from a rivalry game in Ohio

Hubbard High (Hubbard, Ohio) and Poland Seminary High (Poland, Ohio) aren't among Ohio's most luminary prep football programs, but they put on a show in their annual rivalry game, with Hubbard eventually emerging with a 30-24 overtime victory.

On the way there, Hubbard moved the chains on a catch that required more concentration than just about any other this year. Hubbard wide receiver Darnell Tate pulled in a remarkable pass from Brennan Wassil, who was able to get his pass off just before he was hit by a Poland pass rush.

The pass hit Tate in stride, but slipped through his hands. The receiver didn't give up on the pass, though, keeping it in play by deflecting it off his chest and then trapping it between his legs.

The reception earned a first down for Hubbard on a third-and-7 on a key drive with just more than 7 minutes remaining in the game.

The catch was riveting, but the play-by-play call of the grab may have been even better, with the announcer from Youngstown CBS affiliate WKBN entering a state of absolute delirium over the grab.

Not long thereafter, Hubbard was celebrating its first win against Poland in seven years.

"Sometimes in life you have to have some setbacks before you can taste that sweet victory," Hubbard coach Brian Hoffman told the Youngstown Vindicator. "I’ll tell you what -- we’ve been taking it [on the chin] a little bit [from Poland], so it feels real good."

Needless to say, Tate had some of the same feeling after his catch.
