It’s become a fad for other top college programs to claim that "We Want 'Bama." The sentiment is simple: Alabama is the top college football program in the country, has won back-to-back national titles and is back on top of the rankings yet again in 2013.
While some of the We Want 'Bama campaigns are sincere — Oregon, Florida State and Auburn could all give the Crimson Tide trouble — others, such as the signs paraded by Ball State and Northern Illinois fans, probably can be taken with a grain of salt.
Then there is the case of the champions of the Mobile, Ala., third- and fourth-grade football league. They want 'Bama, too, and they have the signs to prove it.
The adorable youth football photo you see above comes from Twitter user Jim Dunaway, and was brought to Prep Rally’s attention by USA Today’s For the Win. It’s hard to top anything in the photo; the signs are so big that the kids have a hard time holding them high enough to avoid obscuring their heads, the cheerleaders’ pig tails are picturesque, and there’s even a splash of Crimson Tide colors, both on the signs and hats in the foreground and distance.
Is Alabama worried? It’s pretty unlikely, even without the addition of Da’Shawn Hand. After all, these kiddos won’t be ready to suit up in college until Hand is entering his fourth or fifth season of NFL action, assuming he makes it that far.
