Tiger Woods commits to the Players

As was expected, Tiger Woods has committed to the Players Championship, May 6-9, making it the first time we will see Woods play back-to-back since news broke in November of his extramarital affairs.

Tiger will be in the field next week at the Quail Hollow Championship, and the following week is the annual event at TPC Sawgrass, where Woods took home the trophy in 2001.

Interesting enough, Tiger hasn't played so well at the event since then, finishing in the top-10 only once since '01. Between 2002-'07, Tiger's average finish was 25th, a rare string of bad play at one event by Woods.

No matter, Tiger in attendance means that the famed Sawgrass links will get to see almost all of the top golfers in the world.

After the Players, it seems almost mandatory that he will take three weeks off before committing to the Memorial, June 3-6, and then take a week off before the U.S. Open, where Tiger has already sent in his entry form.
