Showdown, Week 35: Camilo Villegas vs. Brandt Snedeker

So in an attempt to inject a bit more life and interest into tournaments, and because we're both inveterate gamblers who are one bad card from being out on the streets, Shane Bacon and I are playing a golf version of a football suicide pool: We each pick one golfer per tournament and see how they do against each other, straight up. Victory over the other guy gets one point, victory in the tournament gets three points. (Double for the majors.) And when we burn a golfer, he's done for the year. This week, we move on to Round 2 of the FedEx Cup with The Deutsche Bank Championship.

Bacon: Man, did I need that performance last week. The slump is officially over, and with the second leg of the FedEx Cup, I'll take Camilo Villegas. He's been playing better golf of late, and if he wants to hang around for another week, he's going to have to keep that up. Plus, those really tight shirts he wears will really fit him in over there in Boston.

Busbee: Wicked awesome pick. Me, I'm going with Brandt Snedeker, who rebounded from missing his tee time at the PGA to post a course record at The Barclays en route to a T3. Even more importantly, I haven't picked him yet, which makes him gold in my book.

Last week: Busbee's pick of Bubba Watson missed the cut, so all Bacon's man Gary Woodland had to do was hang on, which he did with a six-under tie for 13th.

Current standings: Busbee 22, Bacon 22. All square again!
