Relive Jack Nicklaus' first major win on Thanksgiving

This time 52 years ago, Jack Nicklaus was wrapping up an outstanding rookie campaign. In January, he made his pro debut in Los Angeles. By June, he was a major champion. A documentary airs on Thanksgiving commemorating Jack's breakthrough.

Called "1962 U.S. Open: Jack's First Major," the film chronicles Nicklaus' first win in the national championship, as much prophetic as symbolic. At Oakmont Country Club, just an hour from Arnold Palmer's hometown of Latrobe, Pa., Nicklaus defeated the King in an 18-hole playoff to signify the start of a rivalry and transition to a two-and-a-half decade run of major successes for the Golden Bear. The film shows the pair's return to Oakmont to relive their showdown.

The film, which first aired in 2012 to celebrate the 50-year anniversary since that Open, reairs on Fox on Thanksgiving at 3 p.m. Eastern.
