PGA Tour Canada player holes out from the fairway on his final hole to shoot 59

Trust us when we tell you this, you won't hear about a more impressive golf shot the rest of the year than the one that Brady Schnell pulled off on Friday at the PGA Tour Canada event.

Playing the ATB Financial Classic in Calgary, Schnell stood in the fairway on the 454-yard ninth hole (Schnell began his round on No. 10) knowing he needed to hole his 122-yard approach shot to become the second player in PGA Tour Canada history to go sub-60, and did just that.

Yes, you read that correctly, the 29-year-old holed his approach shot to post exactly 13-under, a 59 on the par-72 Sirocco Golf Club.

“To shoot 59 is crazy enough, but to hole out on the last hole to do it, I just can’t even believe it,” Schnell told PGATour.com. “That’s the ultimate number, to get inside the 50s. To do it in a tournament on PGA TOUR Canada is even better. I guess it’s what we all dream of, but just to do it in that fashion makes it sweeter too.”

Schnell pulled his gap wedge on his final hole, but didn't even think it went in, saying it looked like it would be a foot or two when he got up there and was surprised when it disappeared. The 59 means Schnell joins Jason Bohn as the only two players to ever go sub-60 in a PGA Tour Canada event, with Bohn shooting 58 at the 2001 Bayer Championship.

Schnell's scorecard is below, and while we don't have video of the final shot, we do have video of him talking about it, above, and saying that he was simply just trying to make a birdie on his final hole to get a shot closer to the lead.

A very cool story, and an incredible golf shot to pull off considering the circumstances and one that Schnell will remember for the rest of his life, as he mentioned on Twitter.
