Notes and quotes from Day 2 of the PGA Championship

A roundup of the day's news and notes from Day 2 of the PGA Championship:

Coming off the course, Keegan Bradley (above) had a simple tweet: "Hardest golf course/day I've ever played." Bradley didn't play all that badly, all things considered; his +5 was rocky but left him at +1 on the week, just five strokes behind the leaders. Rickie Fowler, meanwhile, shot an 80; when asked by "@TheRealTimbo92" how he could shoot an 80 in the PGA Championship, he replied, "I missed a 10-footer for a 79."

On a day as windy as this, you've got to figure on a few people getting hit. And indeed it happened. Adam Scott tagged a woman, and then, like the guy needed to look any better in the eyes of the ladies, agreed to send her flowers. Meanwhile, David Toms hit a woman in the cheek on 13; he soothed her pain with a signed glove and a hug.

The only guy not to finish on Friday? Joost Luiten, who will tee off on No. 18 early on Saturday morning. If he manages a quintuple-bogey 9, he'll make the cut and get to play the rest of the day.

How much tougher did the course play on Friday? The Day 2 scoring average was 78.1, compared to Thursday's 73.3.

DFL on the week? Club pro Doug Wade, who carded a +21 on Friday to finish at +32. No, he didn't make the cut, but he did make the tournament and you didn't, so stop laughing.

Phil Mickelson had perhaps the easiest jump up the leaderboard. After finishing his round of 71, he was T27. By the time the afternoon carnage had settled, he was T12 and just four shots off the lead ... exactly where he said he wanted to be.
