Each year, Jack Nicklaus honors a fellow golfer at his Memorial tournament for longtime contributions to the game of golf. This year's honoree was Tom Watson, and Nicklaus gave an emotional speech (that starts at about the 6:20 mark of the video above). You can see class, respect and real emotion on display here; it ought to be required viewing for any young golf fan. "Our honoree embodies everything I could want in a friend," Nicklaus says, and if you've ever watched either of these men play, you might find yourself getting a bit choked up too.
Nicklaus' recollections, from seeing a 15-year-old Tom Watson playing in Topeka, Kansas to the Duel in the Sun at the 1977 British Open, are gold. It's a shame, as Shackelford notes, that you can actually see today's pros walking around in the background, but this is some fine material for any fan of golf history. Enjoy.
