HP Byron Nelson officials offer Andres Gonzales exemption via Twitter

Move over Jason Gore, you're no longer the only professional golfer to receive a sponsor exemption via Twitter.

Just a couple of months after Gore asked the Northern Trust Open for a spot in the field, via Twitter, and was granted an exemption, Andres Gonzales received one from HP Byron Nelson Championship tournament officials.

Gonzales, the dude with the full-on Fu Manchu mustache, was doing his usual thing on Twitter -- you know, asking Tiger Woods to tee it up for a round -- when @HPBNC (the tournament's official account) asked Gonzales if he was interested in heading down to Texas, May 14-20.

Gonzales, who's currently playing full-time on the Nationwide Tour this season, accepted the invited and will make his first PGA Tour start of 2012 at the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

The tournament is tech savvy (they have HP as a presenting sponsor, after all), so the idea of officials offering up a sponsor exemption via Twitter doesn't seem all that far fetched. Regardless, it's nice to see tournaments listening to the fans and adding golfers they want to see to the field.
