Ah, the Open Championship. Bringing out the best in players for more than a century.
Coming into the Open, Henrik Stenson was projected as one of the potential favorites to win at Hoylake; indeed, he's our pick. But a frustrating shot in the mess at 17, and, well, he decided to take out his rage on his iron:
Stenson would go on to finish the round at even par, which isn't terrible, but given the fact that birdies were out there, it had to be frustrating.
Of course, it's not like this is anything new for Stenson:
In September Golf Digest, Henrik Stenson tells @guy_yocom1: "I’ve lost count of how many drivers, fairway woods and wedges I’ve murdered."— Mike O'Malley (@GD_MikeO) July 17, 2014
Yeah. Going to be a fun next few days for Stenson.
