What does that mean for the tournament? Well, a few things.
First, The Golf Channel reported that the tournament won't finish until Monday, something tournament officials have yet to confirm (Actually, PGA Tour officials told the media room emphatically that no decision about a Monday finish will be made until Saturday at the earliest). If that turned out not to be the case, expect some marathon golf on Saturday and Sunday, which could mean an even more hectic Saturday.
A year ago, the Waste Management had 121,221 fans show up on Saturday, and if that's the case again, with golfers like Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson logging more than 27 holes of golf, you could be taking about one of the most exciting days of the year on the PGA Tour.
If you're looking for a favorite to win this thing, it would make sense to go with someone fit, young and not bothered by some delays that could frustrate most of the guys on tour. What I'm saying is, Dustin Johnson isn't a bad bet right now to take this thing down, especially after a first round 64.
More to come from chilly Scottsdale when more news is relayed to us.
