A bad day on the links can ruin just about anyone's mood, but a bad day during a major championship when you are one of the favorites? That can really eat at your insides.

Charl Schwartzel had to deal with that on Thursday at the British Open. The former Masters champion made three bogeys in a row heading to the 15th hole, and after an errant second shot, he decided his 6-iron needed to retire for the day, throwing it into the ground, snapping the shaft in half.

This isn't the first meltdown we've seen Schwartzel have on the golf course. At the 2012 Deutsche Bank Championship, Schwartzel four-putted from three feet on the final hole after trailing by just three shots, clearly frustrated as he walked off the green.
