Five picks against the Yahoo pickem number. Loved the Week 2 card, hate this one, but that's not really predictive.

-- Wish they were giving the friendly three, but still like Carolina (-3.5) at home against a Steelers team full of holes. Cam Newton might not be an electric runner this year - his rib and ankle injuries could nag him all season - but he has better targets than you might think, with the underrated Greg Olsen down the seam and Kelvin Benjamin a quick study. Defenses tend to have less continuity than offenses, but the Panthers could be an exception to that this year - the unit has been terrific thus far.

-- You're never as bad as you look during a nightmare loss, or in Jacksonville's case, a nightmare six quarters. For the last time, take the spot (+7) and hold your nose. The Blake Bortles era can't get here soon enough. Indy's on a short week, and it is a division game.

-- Generally I'm grabbing the points in any NFC East game, and remember Philly's on a short week. Nick Foles is scoring like a pinball machine, but he's also leaving plays on the field (pocket sloppiness, occasional inaccuracy). The Redskins (+6.5) should be able to get 20-plus, hang around.

-- Everyone knows the Saints (-10) are Jekyll-Hyde - Supermen in the Superdome, a mess elsewhere. They're also two plays from being 2-0. Sorry, Minnesota, you're in the wrong spot at the wrong time. NO goes for 40-plus.

-- The Rams (+1) will keep things simple, and sometimes that's a good thing. I don't trust Tony Romo's wonky back at all, and St. Louis has a legitimate home-field advantage..
