Three important details from today's drubbing of the Cubs

1) The 44.0 percent-owned Joey Votto hit three home runs, and he hit 'em to all fields. That gives Votto seven on the year. He's batting .302.

Votto also stole his first base of the season. He swiped 41 bases over the previous two minor league seasons, so the steal is noteworthy.

There are many first baseman who are more heavily-owned than Votto, yet have done little this season to deserve it.

2) Edinson Volquez continued his dominance: 7.0 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 6 BB, 10 K. (Yeah, we really need to get a headshot of him wearing a Reds' cap). Take a look at Volquez's pitch-count today. That's five straight games with 100 or more.

3) Brandon Phillips left the game in the seventh with a bruised calf. It doesn't sound unusually serious, though, and the Reds are off tomorrow.
