Holland has put things together nicely over the last month (three wins, 30 Ks, 3.48 ERA, 0.95 WHIP) and the Indians have left early to beat the traffic. And we have to assume the Rangers will do their fair share of scoring against Zach McAllister. … Verlander has wins in both of his Chicago starts this year, with a nifty 1.69 ERA and 0.74 WHIP. His career in U.S. Cellular hasn't been so hot: 5-6, 4.27/1.18. But at the end of the day, who cares? You're starting him anyway.

Fenway Park has been a House of Horrors for Hughes (8.26/1.94) and his road stats are a mess this year (4.86/1.38). But Adrian Gonzalez isn't walking through that door, David Ortiz isn't walking through that door and Kevin Youkilis isn't hobbling through that door. Do you feel lucky, gamer? … Weaver is coming back from forearm soreness (and a visit with Dr. Lewis Yocum), which is why he's ranked cautiously. … At some point we stop holding the Astros against Harrell and we simply trust him because he keeps producing quality starts. He's allowed three runs or less in 12 of his last 14 turns, and if you hash them all together, you get a 3.32 ERA and 1.26 WHIP. Those ratios can help you in most leagues.

But the Cardinals are one of the few Senior Circuit clubs that can put a crooked number on you. … Lynn picks up his first start since Aug. 18 but I don't see how you can use him. He's allowed nine runs over his last nine relief innings

My phone's out of juice — does anyone know which arm Hendricks throws with? … It's always a pitch-to-contact story with Alvarez, and that will sink you to the bottom tier of the streamer pool. Note his strikeout column from his previous seven turns: 1, 2, 1, 3, 2, 2, 1.

Speed Round: Ramon Hernandez (hamstring) underwent an MRI on Tuesday and might be done for the season. This clears up the catching gig for Wilin Rosario, but it also means Jordan Pacheco might pick up a few starts behind the plate as well. The way Pacheco is hitting (.310 over 397 at-bats, albeit with little category juice), I'd prefer he stick to the corner-infield spots; he's been a useful fill-in, especially on those in-between days. But quirkiness is a way of life in Colorado. … Aroldis Chapman (dead arm) is out indefinitely — he wasn't available Tuesday and you can scratch him Wednesday as well. Jonathan Broxton appears to be the next in line for the Reds — he had a fairly smooth handshake Tuesday (1 H, 1 K), needing just 13 pitches to brush aside the Pirates. … Scott Rolen (back) returned to action Tuesday after missing five games. He went 1-for-4 with a homer, while Juke Box Arcade Hero Todd Frazier watched from the bench. The Reds are cruising into the playoffs, so you'd figure Rolen will see plenty of rest over the final three weeks. … Daniel Straily continues to show he's ready for prime time, posting 6.2 useful innings at Anaheim (7 H. 3 R, 1 BB, 8 K). He's had some trouble with the gopher ball in The Show — six homers over four starts — but he also has a nifty 20 strikeouts against just five walks. Gran him and use him for Sunday's home turn against Baltimore; Straily is unowned in 94 percent of Yahoo! leagues. … If you're steaming a day ahead of time, you might want to consider these guys for Friday: Bronson Arroyo at Miami, Mike Fiers versus the Mets, Tommy Milone at home against Baltimore, and Andrew Cashner hosting the Rockies. Cashner (11 percent owned in Yahoo!) looks like the best play in that lot. If you need an extra push in his direction, consider the video below.
