The Orioles' outfield is suddenly a mess. Adam Jones(notes) has a hamstring issue, Luke Scott(notes) has a sore shoulder, and Felix Pie(notes) is ... well, he's Felix Pie. That's your problem right there, pal. And he's recovering from food poisoning.
According to the Baltimore Sun, O's manager Dave Trembley doesn't yet have a specific plan for Reimold:
"I haven't thought that far ahead," Trembley said. "It depends on the status of Jones and Scott. If neither one of them are able to play, he'll be in the starting lineup. I'll know more about that [Thursday]."
Reimold doesn't really offer much speed, but he's got a track record as a power hitter (25 HR in '08 at Double-A). As prospects go, he's not quite Mat Gamel(notes), but he can still be plenty useful. It's difficult to make a case for Pie as an everyday player right now, so there's an opportunity.
Funston gave Reimold a thorough hyping in this week's Skinny prior to the call-up. He's nine percent owned in PLUS leagues at the moment (Reimold, not Funston). Take a look if you're in something larger than a public league.
