If the Tigers have a save situation tonight, Joel Zumaya will take the ball. That's what Jim Leyland, ever the secretive bullpen operator, announced before Tuesday's game at Chicago.

Leyland stopped short of giving Zumaya the job outright - he also mentioned Fernando Rodney and Kyle Farnsworth as options, and the team's official site seems to describe a possible committee of sorts. But you get the idea Leyland wants someone to take this job and run with it, and a conversion in the next chance would go a long way towards Zumaya doing just that.

Zumaya had been dealing with some upper-arm tenderness, but apparently he's fine now. He's always had the raw stuff to close, but his command has been all over the place this season.

We'll discuss more as the night (and week) goes along.
