The Philadelphia Inquirer's Matt Gelb tweets that Brad Lidge(notes) has returned to Philadelphia to have his sore right elbow examined. Uh-oh.
You'll recall that Lidge was unavailable on Monday due to "stiffness" in the surgically repaired elbow. On Tuesday, he was reportedly "frustrated" by a throwing session. Bad news all around, basically.
We've had a few Lidge-related fire drills before, so by now you should know what to do. Jose Contreras(notes) is the appropriate fantasy add. He's just 11 percent owned in Yahoo! leagues at the moment, despite having brilliant ratios (0.77 ERA, 0.60 WHIP, 11.6 K/9, 0.77 BB/9). Contreras' contact rate is the second lowest in baseball (62.3 percent), so you know his stuff has been of the highest quality. The relief role clearly suits him, and of course he's SP-eligible.
Make the add. Go. Do it.
