Interesting report from Adam Shefter today, over at

New England running back LaMont Jordan aggravated his calf injury Wednesday and is unlikely to play Sunday for the third straight week, a league source said.

Also, running back Sammy Morris, who suffered a knee injury Monday night against the Denver Broncos, is expected to be sidelined two to three weeks, said another league source.

If Jordan sits in Week 8 and Morris misses at least two games, then Kevin Faulk and BenJarvus Green-Ellis get very interesting. Green-Ellis won't make many tacklers miss, but he's a bruiser. He's not a bad goal-line option considering the circumstances, and New England faces a pair of user-friendly run defenses in the weeks ahead (STL, at IND).

You can't wait for the Patriots to make an announcement here, because sharing injury information isn't really something they do, ever. It shouldn't shock you if Jordan and/or Morris are able to play this week. Just pick up Green-Ellis if you have a piece to spare. He's an excellent speculative add today. In a PPR league, maybe you're more interested in Faulk, depending on the number of Ps per R. I'll have Green-Ellis higher in my initial Week 8 rankings, though.

Follow this link for more background info on BenJarvus, including the Rivals scouting report. You're hoping he's this year's Ryan Grant (undrafted, off the radar, good situation). If instead he's this year's DeShawn Wynn, you drop him. No harm.
