Young pro boxer Bobby Hornsby gets recognized by Gatorade
Boxer Bobby Hornsby (8-0-1) may be new to the professional fight game but he's already gotten the attention of Gatorade, as much for his inspiring story as for his solid amateur record. The light welterweight out of Georgia is the subject of a new Gatorade: Win from Within documentary short (above), which highlights he and his mother overcoming abuse from his father and making positive choices to better their lives.
It's always big news when a major brand gets behind a fighter, these days, but the short film is also just fun and feel-good to watch. Though it's wholly produced by Gatorade, it's low on branding on much bigger on interviews with Hornsby, his mother, coach and other loved ones.
The young fighter was recently in Cincinatti to take in the Adrian Broner vs. Emmanuel Taylor fight and will be in Las Vegas to check out Floyd Mayweather vs. Marcos Maidana II this coming weekend. We'll check in with the 140 pounder early next week to ask him to reflect on this sudden whirlwind of attention he's receiving, so check back with us then.
