Alexander Ustinov replaces Dereck Chisora against Tyson Fury
Dereck Chisora broke his hand sparring with Alexander Ustinov days before his scheduled heavyweight match up against Tyson Fury in Manchester this Saturday and was forced to pull out of the rematch. Now, the fighter out of Minsk will fill in for the man he was brought in to help during training camp against Fury.
Ustinov, who has also competed in kickboxing and MMA, stands at a towering 6'7 and weighs over 300 pounds. His record stands at 29-1 and he last fought and won a decision over David Tua. For his part, Fury said in released statements that he is happy to still be fighting someone Saturday.
“The first thing is I’m happy to still be fighting this Saturday and that the fans will get what they paid for and see a good fight," he said.
"We’ve had a hard training camp and I’m in the shape of my life, expecting to knockout Chisora, but now I’m going to have take it out on Ustinov and make sure he takes the full force of my anger. Chisora will now see what he was going to get on the night – knocked out. Strangely, I’m going to break the man who broke Chisora’s hand. Full credit for Ustinov for taking the fight, he’s a big lad, more importantly he’s a credible world ranked opponent and he must fancy his chances. We’re two gladiators, but he’s going to feel what it like against a world class heavyweight like me.”
Ustinov may be a last-minute replacement, but at least he was in a training camp, training with a top fighter like Chisora. Do you feel he has a chance against Fury on Saturday in England?
