Manny Ramirez joining Athletics or Orioles?

US PresswireManny Ramirez has played 19 seasons in the big leagues and he'd like to come out of retirement for at least one more. The slugger retired last April after playing only five games for the Tampa Bay Rays (one hit, one RBI, four strikeouts) because he was about to be hit with a 100-game ban for testing positive for performance—enhancing drugs.

Fox Sports reports that the teams that have the most interest in signing the 39-year-old are the Baltimore Orioles and Oakland Athletics.

Whoever he signs with, Ramirez will only need to sit out for 50 games due to an agreement between the players union and the league.

The 12-time All-Star has been on two World Series-winning squads, knocked out 555 homers, and maintained a career batting average of .312.

In his prime one year the Red Sox I think were going to let him go for free to any team. Not one team responded.

Please sign Vlad Guerrero instead of this loser! Vlad deserves to be part of the game.....Manny does not! Plain and simple.....

He goes to Balt, so he can stay in the fun loving AL East. Balt is always known to sign old, over the hill players who somehow do somewhat ok there. So Manny might end up being a suprise especially for a club that has no chance to win, yet still needs a "name" to sell tickets.

Baltimore needs a big time bat as does Oakland. Either team will benefit.

This isn't digging in the dumpster, this is scraping up the dung and crud that builds up under the Dumpster.

If Johnny Damon is available, the A's would be a lot better off signing him as DH and for clubhouse leadership. Ramirez would only be good for trade bait after the All Star break if he stays "clean" and can still hit.

Going to Oakland makes sense since it is the birthplace of the roid abuse.

What losing team is going to sign this d-bag? Seriously there are younger and better Free Agents who have more upside and are cheaper.

Please don't sign with the A's, Manny. You let Tampa Bay down, big time, last season, and the A's don't need your type of leadership with our young team.
