Patriots’ Gronkowski claims ankle wasn’t a problem

US PresswireNew England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski only had two receptions for 26 yards during the course of his team's Super Bowl loss to the New York Giants, but the man who lead the league in touchdown receptions with 17 claims that his injured left ankle had nothing to do with his performance.

"I was fine, my ankle was fine," Gronkowski said afterward, according to the Boston Herald. "I was 100 percent out there. I did everything they asked me to do."

Gronkowski also told reporters that he had no plans for surgery for the supposedly 100% ankle: "I just need to get some treatment in the offseason and I will be good to go," he said, the Herald reports.

Wide receiver Deion Branch appreciated Gronkowski's efforts: "I promise you 75 percent of the players in the NFL wouldn't have played, and this guy gutted it out for the team, and I truly appreciate him for it," Branch said, the Herald reports.

I could have sworn I saw him limping when he was trying to run full speed. Should I believe Gronkowski or my lying eyes? And if there was no problem, why was he out of the game on the last drive?

Nice try dude. Tough break to be injured for the biggest game of your life and I think not having you healthy did make a difference.

The Chargers are insane if they don't re-sign Vincent Jackson to a long term contract. Ten million dollars a year is the going rate for a quality receiver of his ability. How many times is A.J. Smith going to let another player the Chargers need to get into the Super Bowl leave the team because they don't want to pay him the market rate. They can write a book on all "the ones that got awy" on this team. The Fans of the San Diego (not so super Chargers)
    deserve better.

Big Pats fan here. Very disappointed. First, congrats to NY. It was a well played game with the mistakes being the difference. (the way it should be with 2 real good teams) Eli, well, hats off. I guess he is one of the best out there now. Now we will have to hear forever about the Giants being Pats killers, and Eli having Brady's number. Guess, they have earned that. Darnit!!!!!!!!

Long offseason........... Thank you Pats for such a great ride this year and in the 2000s, it has been great. Lets see what next year brings. I miss football already.........

I have a comment...Eli is a goober...We'll see if Eli can make it to 5 SB's. I doubt it....Next year we'll be right back in the game and the Giants will be back to 8-8 and talking about firing Coughlin again. Brady 3 Eli 2...That's reality...
