Giants TE Travis Beckum out for 2012?

US PresswireTwo New York Giants tight ends, Jake Ballard and Travis Beckum, may have helped their team take down the New England Patriots 21-17 in the Super Bowl, but neither could jump for joy about it at game's end. In fact, neither of them could jump at all.

Both suffered injuries during the game and Beckum's could keep him out for all of next season, according to the New York Post.

Beckum tore his anterior cruciate ligament in the first quarter and Ballard "limped off the field" early in the fourth quarter "with what was diagnosed as a torn meniscus cartilage in his left knee," the Post reports.

Still, they will always have Super Bowl champ on their resumes.

I think almost any player would give up a season for a Superbowl victory. After all, the ring IS the reason for the season.

It's ashame about Beckum. He never reached his potential as a Giant. At least he'll always have that one play vs the packers.

Those losses guarantee the Giants will be taking a TE in the first 2 rounds of the NFL draft!
