Peyton Manning ‘struggling to get healthy’?

It's been pretty hard to tell

just what is going on between four-time NFL MVP Peyton Manning and Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay in recent days. The pair seemed to square off in the media after Rob Lowe said that Manning was going to retire. Then they both said everything was fine and dandy between them.

With the No. 1 pick in this year's draft, it seemed clear Irsay was ready to draft a top quarterback who will be Manning's replacement soon or later. The Colts have till March 8 to decide if they want to pay Manning, who has been out all season with a neck injury, $28 million to stay on the roster.

So other teams have been making it known that they'd sign Manning in a heartbeat if they could.

Teams may now want to hold off on that. SI.com's Peter King said Sunday that Manning "is struggling to get healthy," according to ProFootballTalk.

King also noted that Irsay is denying that the decision was made on Manning "weeks ago," PFT reports.

Whatever the case is, Manning is in for a rough week as the media descends on Indy for the Super Bowl that will feature Peyton's brother, New York Giants QB Eli Manning, as he looks to pass his brother in the Super Bowl wins department.
