Hornets’ Eric Gordon open to return to Indiana

US PresswireNew Orleans Hornets shooting guard Eric Gordon grew up in Indianapolis and was named "Mr. Basketball" of Indiana in his senior year of high school. Then he went to Indiana for one season and led the Big 10 in scoring. So he headed off to the NBA and was drafted seventh overall in 2008 by the Los Angeles Clippers.

Last month the news slipped out that Gordon and the NBA-owned Hornets weren't able to work out a long-term extension. He'll be a restricted free agent this summer and some Indiana Pacers fans are hoping that he'll return to the Hoosier state. And Gordon isn't denying that possibility.

"It's going to be interesting," Gordon said Tuesday of his coming free agency, according to the Indianapolis Star. "It's all about whatever happens, happens. Coming back [to Indiana] would be a lot of pressure, but I think it would be good for the fans."

The 23-year-old Gordon is averaging 21 points, five rebounds, and two assists per game.

What point per game average would you like them to show? He averaged over 22 points per game last season in 60 games with the Clippers. In 2 games with the Hornets he averaged 21 points per game. He is a proven 20+ point per game scorer in the NBA.

Gordon is gonna get the maximum deal that a team can tender to a restricted free agent, and the Hornets will match it. Then he's gotta decide if he really wants to be a Hornet or take a one year qualifier and leave freely. He's got enough talent and youth that he will be sought by anyone with enough cap space.

You have to look at the cap numbers for those guys. What kind of example would the NBA be setting for the league if their own team went over the cap?

Yes, they hate the Lakers. Remember getting Pau for what was widely panned as a Jerry West to the Lakers favor/trade?

LA cant seem to produce a championship caliber team even with all the money they both pumped into their systems. Both teams suck. Neither of them deserve Gordon.

The Lakers couldn't afford Gordon, and the Clippers didn't handle Gordon's departure well, like lying to him, so I doubt that would happen.
