    • UFC 127 video analysis: What's next for Fitch and Penn?

Jon Fitch and B.J. Penn battled for 15 minutes, with little determined after the fight was scored a majority draw. Penn had his moments in the first two rounds, while Fitch completed dominated the third. Wouldn't it be nice for all MMA main events to be five-rounders regardless of whether there's a title on the line?

That's not the case now and this draw leaves the UFC's welterweight division with a lot of question marks.

Adam Hill from the Las Vegas Review-Journal joined us to break down the scoring and what the future looks like in the UFC's welterweight division.

    • Fitch finishes strong, but only gets a draw in UFC 127 main event

Jon Fitch has lost just once in the UFC, but always seems to find himself in a frustrating position in the UFC welterweight division. It happened again Saturday night at UFC 127 in Sydney, Australia. The highly-rated contender at 170 pounds mauled B.J. Penn in the final round but the fight was scored 28-28 on two judges' scorecoards, resulting in an unfulfiling majority draw at Acer Arena. Fitch was a 29-28 winner on the third scorecard.

UFC analyst Joe Rogan asked Fitch if he won the fight:

"I thought so," Fitch said. "I gave up some positioning in the first and second round, but I finished out on top and did some damage of my own. I think I did enough at least to win a split decision."

The "decision" has been the unfortunate story of Fitch's UFC career, but this one was tough to swallow. Fitch crushed Penn in the final round. He got the Hawaiian down for good with 3:39 left and pummeled him with punches, hammerfists and elbows. According to FightMetric, the final strike count in

    • UFC 127 upset: Siver shocks lightweight title contender Sotiropoulos

The UFC has excellent depth in its lightweight division. Denis Siver proved that tonight.

George Sotiropoulos, on the verge of locking up a shot at the UFC lightweight title, rolled the dice by taking a fight in his homeland against the Russian fighting out of Germany. Sotiropoulos, an excellent jiu-jitsu practitioner, found it impossible to get the thick 5-foot-6 Siver to the ground. Meanwhile, Siver threw nasty kicks and punches for 15 minutes, even flooring Sotiropoulos in the middle of the first on his way to unanimous decision victory, 30-28, 30-27 and 29-28, at UFC 127 in Sydney, Australia.

"He was very strong," Sotiropoulos said. "He threw some heavy shots that landed, and I felt them.

Entering the fight, Siver (18-7) appeared to have so-so UFC record at 6-4, but he's improved massively since his early days with the promotion back in 2007. Tonight, was his crowning moment as he showed off solid takedown defense. In Siver's previous 10 fights, his opponents were 8-of-9 on

    • Former 'Crocodile Hunter' bodyguard, Noke rolls over Camozzi at UFC 127

During the many chapters of his life, Kyle Noke has seen it all. He's looking to make the MMA chapter his most interesting. A former bodyguard for Steve "The Crocodile Hunter" Irwin, Noke stormed to a 3-0 mark in the UFC after an easy win tonight over Chris Camozzi in the pay-per-view opener at UFC 127.

A native of New South Wales, Australia, Noke served as one of Irwin's bodyguards for three years and also worked with his Aussie brother on his martial arts skills. Irwin, who passed away in 2006, was a huge MMA fan.

"Strong, very strong," Noke told MMAjunkie.com of Irwin's ability. "He had that strength from wrestling crocs all his life from pulling them in and holding them tight. We'd never let him get on top because he would just hold you down as tight as he could."

Irwin did more than employ Noke, he backed his fighting efforts.

"He's one of the reasons why I'm here where I am now. He sponsored me and paid for my first flights to the States. He really pushed me to follow my

    • Gustafsson chokes out a tired Te Huna at UFC 127

James Te Huna was a little too wired fighting in front of the home crowd in Australia. The Sydney resident fought at a frantic pace in the opening minute, then faded quickly before becoming a first round rear-naked choke victim of Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 127.

Less than 30 seconds into the fight, Te Huna (12-5, 1-1 UFC) scored a takedown and was incredibly active on top. Gustafsson did a nice job of weathering the storm. Te Huna was throwing punches and elbows from side control and looked to have an easy pass for the mount, but never seized the opportunity.

Gustafsson settled Te Huna down by getting him, first in his half guard and then full guard. The Swede got back to his feet with three minutes left in the round. A minute later, Gustafsson scored a takedown against Te Huna, who was clearly winded. He scored another when he reversed a Te Huna takedown attempt and quickly took his back with 1:10 left. Te Huna didn't provide much opposition on the ground. Gustafsson flattened him

    • China's Zhang opens UFC 127 Facebook fights with a win

Tiequan Zhang is still a bit of a mysterious character, but there's no question about the fact that he's a pretty solid MMA competitor.

Zhang dropped to featherweight for his UFC debut and smoked Jason Reinhardt in less than a minute at UFC 127. Zhang locked on a guillotine choke (pictured below) and nearly put Reinhardt out at the 0:48 mark of the first round in Sydney, Australia.

Zhang (13-1, 1-0 UFC, 1-1 WEC) is the first fighter from China to compete in the UFC. He made his Zuffa debut in 2010.

He looked extremely comfortable in this one, as he stalked Reinhardt from the start. Zhang followed the shorter fighter around the cage looking to land something big. He closed space along the cage and when Reinhardt dropped his head a bit, Zhang went for the choke.

Reinhardt pushed forward and the fight fell to the ground where he was trapped in the nasty choke. He waited until the very last second to tap. When Zhang released the choke, Reinhardt didn't move, he was groggy and out of it.

    • Bisping with future title shot and new TUF slot on the line?

Some may look at Jorge Rivera as an easy mark, but for Michael Bisping, the veteran fighter is a spoiler who could ruin some big things in the future.

Following a bad knockout loss against Dan Henderson at UFC 100, Bisping tumbled down the middleweight rankings. No one was pushing for the Brit to get a shot against Anderson Silva. If he takes out Rivera, he's back in the mix for a title eliminator according to Betfair’s Alex Bake:

"There’s certainly no love lost between these two and it promises to be one hell of a battle. The punters are getting behind Bisping for this one," Bake told the U.K. Telegraph. "He has it all to fight for; a decent showing here and he could line up a potential title eliminator against Yushin Okami."

Betfair lists Bisping as a minus-300 favorite, with the Brit drawing 2-1 for a knockout. The Venetian in Las Vegas has Bisping a little higher at minus-320.

    • UFC 127 weigh-in: Bisping fired up, Penn wears jeans

The weigh-ins for UFC 127 in Sydney went off without a hitch and the UFC even stifled any pushing and shoving that could've occured.

Jon Fitch and B.J. Penn went nose-to-nose during the staredown. Penn is the much smaller fighter. He weighed in at 167.2 but he was also wearing his jeans. Fitch is likely to walk into the Octagon with a weight advantage of somewhere between 15 and 20 pounds.

It was also no surprise to see Michael Bisping so hyped up that he was ready to deck Jorge Rivera. Bisping weighed in at 185.2, drank a full bottom of something to begin the rehydration process and then walked aggressively across the stage. UFC president Dana White was johnny-on-the-spot stepping in between the two middleweights.

Nineteen of the 20 remaining fighters made weight and provided few highlights before, during and after they hit the scale. There was an issue with Denis Siver, who weighed in at 156.6. Siver was given an hour to get down to 156.

    • White UFC 127 vlog: Recovering from broken eye, Koscheck is surfing!

Dana White's latest vlog takes the viewer from Hawaii to Sydney. White arrives in Australia and hits Bondi beach where UFC fighters and Octagon girls are surfing.

That's right Brittney Palmer and Arianny Celeste are soaking wet in bathing suits (3:00 mark).

The craziest scene is seeing Josh Koscheck emerging from the water (4:05 mark).

That's the same Koscheck, who suffered a broken orbital bone against Georges St. Pierre at UFC 124 in early December. Koscheck tells White the eye is doing fine but he still feels numbness on the right side of his face and teeth at times. He's surfing? That's nuts. Koscheck says he still has five months of recovery ahead.

On a side note, Tiki Ghosn also saved White's life ... twice (2:08 mark).

    • With lightweight roster crunch, Pearson and Fisher could be in jeopardy

Ross Pearson was the winner of Season 9 of "The Ultimate Fighter," but that doesn't mean he's got a job for life with the UFC or even the rest of 2011 for that matter.

The UFC has a short leash when it comes to TUF alums and it has no problem sending a guy to minors if his performances aren't up to snuff. That's pressure. It's even worse for lightweights because the promotion just added a slew of 155ers from the WEC.

The Telegraph's Gareth Davies says the UFC has 68 lightweights under contract and is looking to get the number down to 30. If that's the case, it essentially sets up a single elimination lightweight tourney for much of 2011. It might begin tomorrow with Pearson taking on UFC vet Spencer Fisher at UFC 127.

Watch UFC 127 right here on Yahoo! Sports.

Pearson lost his last fight against Cole Miller while Fisher is 1-2 since Oct. of 2009. Pearson is a good prospect and Fisher has been a great card filler with 15 fights for the UFC. Both should be safe, but you never know.
