You generally don't get a lot of NFL news on a Tuesday because most teams don't practice, but today is an exception. Let's have a good look around.

• The Chiefs have known about the pending Dwayne Bowe(notes) PED suspension for some time, and now it's out in the public. Bowe gets a four-game holiday, Chris Chambers(notes) gets reinvented as a fantasy No. 3 receiver while Lance Long(notes) becomes a trendy sleeper in deep groups. Bowe will miss the following four-game slate: Pittsburgh, at San Diego, Denver, Buffalo. [Associated Press]

• It could be a very sad endgame for Brian Westbrook(notes) - he's headed to a concussion specialist and there's no guarantees with him going forward. Then again, you also hope he gets off the field while his facilities are still intact. This news obviously pushes LeSean McCoy(notes) into flex consideration but it also makes Philadelphia even more of a pass-reliant team than before. [Adam Schefter on Twitter]

• The Dick Jauron era in Buffalo, how was it

With NFL clubs back at work Wednesday, let's take a lap around the league and check the bumps and bruises.

• Everyone knows Clinton Portis(notes) is a baller, but the Redskins aren't going to take chances with him off a concussion; Jim Zorn says Portis is "very, very doubtful" to play against Denver. Ladell Betts(notes) is in line to start and isn't a bad flex option for Week 10, though Betts was held out of Wednesday's session due to a sore ankle. If you're very desperate in a gigantic league, Rock Cartwright(notes) saw some short-yardage work last week and might keep that role (albeit he didn't succeed in Atlanta). But barring some kind of setback in the next few days, Betts will be the featured back versus the Broncos, and he's got a safe path to touches.

• DeAngelo Williams(notes) missed Wednesday's practice with a sore knee, a mild surprise given how dynamic he's looked the last few weeks (he's got 630 total yards and five scores over his last four games). We'll keep a close eye

• Brady Quinn(notes) is expected to get the Week 10 starting assignment for the Browns on Wednesday, then get pummeled Monday against the Ravens. How did the NFL allow the Browns, off their 2008 train wreck season, to get a Monday Night game this year? Don't be surprised if we get a little silly in Monday night's Shutdown Corner chat. • I've seen Pittsburgh mentioned as a possible landing area for Larry Johnson(notes) (who passed through waivers Tuesday), but to me, that's nonsensical. For one thing LJ doesn't fit the locker-room culture the Steelers have established for decades, and more importantly, why would the Steelers want to bring in a back now that Rashard Mendenhall(notes) is spreading his wings? I'll give Pittsburgh the benefit of the doubt here, I don't think they'll be tricked into a

It was a competitive game for one half, then it turned into a Pittsburgh beat down. Let's wrap the Monday nighter from a fantasy perspective.

With the Steelers: It took a half for the Pittsburgh offense to figure out Denver's defense, but man what a tail kicking the Steelers delivered in the second half. Ben Roethlisberger(notes) and friends put up 18 first downs and 321 yards of total offense after intermission, reminding a National TV audience that Pittsburgh deserves to be on anyone's short list of contenders.

Roethlisberger (21-for-29, 233 yards, 3 TDs) is playing far and away the best football of his life right now; other than one loose throw he made on a red-zone interception, it was hard to fault him for much of anything. Santonio Holmes(notes) got free of Champ Bailey(notes) and delivered a strong line (6-93), but it was Hines Ward(notes) (7-44) who got the touchdowns, including the window-dressing score, pictured above, with just 1:22 to play (hope it was good to you). • Joseph Addai(notes) has become one of my favorite fantasy players of the season. Is he having a great year for the Colts? Heck no. But in our make-believe game, in our numbers racket, he's absolute money and there's great lesson in here about environment, summer buzz and how NFL clubs make (and delay) their decisions.

The surface numbers don't look like much with Addai. He's averaging 3.5 yards a carry and he doesn't have a run longer than 14 yards all year. His best rushing game of the year came two weeks back at St. Louis (20 carries, 64 yards); Canton won't be calling for that tape. Donald Brown(notes) has looked far more explosive (4.6 YPC) when he's been given a chance to play.

So why is Addai a Top 12 running back in most standard formats and a Top 10 guy in PPR groups? Because the Colts keep giving him volume, the Colts keep using him around the scoring stripe (seven scores, plus a TD pass), and the Colts keep

Friday is the most important practice day of the week from a fantasy perspective; let's take a good look around.

• The Colts held Donald Brown(notes) (shoulder) out of Friday's practice after letting him work the previous two days. He's questionable and will probably be a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup with the Texans. At least we get a break with the game, it's an early start. All of the Yahoo! experts view Joseph Addai(notes) as a Top 14 back this week even with Brown expected to play; Addai's value obviously gets a mild push forward if Brown winds up being scratched.

• Anquan Boldin(notes) (ankle) did some work Friday and has a shot to go against the Bears; he's questionable on the report. The Cardinals took it easy with Steve Breaston(notes) (knee) Friday but that's standard operating procedure; he's been battling this issue all season. On Boldin, it comes down to a depth call; I wouldn't use him for fantasy this week unless I felt backed into a corner.

We've tried to give our best fantasy push on Nicklas Bergfors(notes). You've done your best to ignore our promotion. If you pass on tonight's propaganda, we'll just assume you don't want to make your fantasy team better.

The Devils have been playing the waiting game on the oft-injured Bergfors, their first-round pick back in 2005, but the speedy Swede has finally started paying dividends this year. The right winger popped home a couple of goals in Wednesday's victory over Washington, with both markers coming on the power play. He's shooting the puck plenty – 43 shots in 13 games – and he's starting to get more quality ice time, solidifying his spot as a Top 6 forward in New Jersey. Pedigree tied to opportunity, don't you love it when a plan comes together?

Okay, we're still talking about a modest 4-4-8 line through 13 games, but keep in mind most of the production has come in recent action (4-2-6 in his last six starts). Perhaps that's not enough to grab Bergfors in the most shallow of

• The waiting game continues with Anthony Gonzalez(notes) – the Indy receiver not only missed Wednesday's practice but he's apparently headed for a second opinion on his knee injury. Austin Collie(notes) and Pierre Garcon(notes) have been solid in Gonzalez's absence and it's clear that Peyton Manning(notes) trusts his young receivers. Donald Brown(notes) (shoulder) had a full day Wednesday and barring a setback it looks like he'll be ready to go against Houston Sunday.

• Is this finally the week for Calvin Johnson(notes)? The limping Lion was able to work with Detroit's first-team offense Wednesday, a step forward from what he was able to do last week. Detroit didn't have Kevin Smith(notes) (shoulder) on Wednesday, but he's shown a willingness to play through injuries in the past.

• Jermichael Finley(notes) (knee) sat out Wednesday and looks questionable at best for Sunday's game
