  • Ezekiel Elliott, Ohio State lead final preseason odds

Nick Bromberg at Dr. Saturday 3 hrs ago

With the season set to begin in a few short hours we've got the final list of preseason odds for the Heisman Trophy and College Football Playoff from Bovada.

Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott is the favorite for the Heisman at 5-1. He was behind TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin in July, but is now just ahead of the QB, who stays at 6-1.

OSU QB J.T. Barrett is in third after leaping from 25-1 in July. He's now at 8-1. Oddsmakers clearly think he'll be the starter. Or the betting trends do. Cardale Jones is listed at 16-1.

When it comes to the College Football Playoff, the Buckeyes are still the top team with odds of 5-2. The theoretical final four based off the odds would be filled out with Alabama (7-1), TCU (7-1) and Baylor (12-1), who is tied with Notre Dame. Yeah, lots of people like to bet on Alabama and Notre Dame.

  • Happy Hour: If you liked the past, this is your NASCAR weekend

Nick Bromberg at From The Marbles 4 hrs ago

Throughout the week you can send us your best questions, jokes, rants and just plain miscellaneous thoughts to or @NickBromberg. We'll post them here and have a good time.

Enjoy the off-week? It's now our busy season. 12 straight weeks of NASCAR coincide with 12 weeks of college football. Though we're not sure we can complain too much. We're looking forward to traveling to some Chase races as the season winds down and combining those trips with some college football games too.

In case you've been living under a rock and haven't seen all the teasing over the past two weeks, be prepared to find your driver in different livery this weekend. Many teams are running throwback schemes and NBC is even going to have some throwback features during its broadcasts this weekend. Hopefully that doesn't mean they're going to broadcast the races in standard-definition (they aren't).

@NickBromberg what are we going to do if the race is bad even with the low downforce package and its new matching tires

    Oh without a doubt.

We're dreaming big. But it'd be fun.

  • Spread Options: Dr. Saturday's Week 1 picks against the spread

Nick Bromberg at Dr. Saturday 8 hrs ago

2014 was bad. Bad. Bad. Bad.

2015 is a new year, so we're going to make money this year. Promise. If you fade our picks this week, we understand. But don't be doing it when week 6 rolls around. Let's get to it.

Western Kentucky (-2) at Vanderbilt, 8 p.m. ET THURSDAY: Is Derek Mason's lost list the key to a winning season for Vanderbilt? Western Kentucky has one of the best offenses in the country and while Vanderbilt's defense should be decent in 2015, we don't think the Commodores have the firepower to hang with the Hilltoppers. Vanderbilt lost at home to open the season against Temple in 2014 and will do so again in 2015.

Ohio (-7) at Idaho, 9 p.m. ET THURSDAY: Yeah, we're going way off the board here. Finding a team that's only a touchdown favorite against a team that's won two games in two years seems like finding buried treasure. The Bobcats are one of the best teams in the MAC East and have a solid defense. We like this to be a comfortable win.

  • Cardale Jones released from hospital after headache

Nick Bromberg at Dr. Saturday 9 hrs ago

Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones was taken to the hospital Wednesday night because of a headache.

The headache did not seem to ultimately be that serious based off what his mother told the Toledo Blade. Jones' uncle had posted a status to Facebook asking for prayersand the hospital trip had been confirmed by his high school coach Ted Ginn Sr. to multiple outlets.

Cardale Jones' mother tells me it is "just a headache." Still in ER getting checked out. Should be fine.

Cardale Jones' mother, Florence: "He's good."

Ohio State said Thursday morning that Jones had been released from the hospital and was "doing fine."

Cardale Jones was examined last night at the OSU Wexner Medical Center. He was released from the center following the examination and he is doing fine today.

Jones started Ohio State's final three games of the 2014 regular season after J.T. Barrett was injured and out for the season. The two are competing for the right to be Ohio State's starting quarterback against Virginia Tech on Monday night after quarterback Braxton Miller transitioned to H-Back.

  • Georgia WR Justin Scott-Wesley doubtful to play in 2015

Nick Bromberg at Dr. Saturday 1 day ago

It looks like Georgia wide receiver Justin Scott-Wesley could miss the entire season because of a knee injury.

Scott-Wesley suffered the knee injury in practice on August 17. Georgia coach Mark Richt said Wednesday that Scott-Wesley is doubtful to play in 2015.

Richt just said it's doubtful Justin Scott-Wesley will play this year, but did not rule it out. He will help coach in the meantime

It's Scott-Wesley's third knee injury of his career. Here's the video of what happened two weeks ago via the Athens Banner-Herald:

[Check out Dr. Saturday on Tumblr for things you won’t see on the blog]

  • Tyreek Hill to play for West Alabama

Nick Bromberg at Dr. Saturday 1 day ago

Not long after he was given three years probation in a domestic abuse case, former Oklahoma State RB Tyreek Hill has a new team.

Hill, now listed as Ty Hill, is on the roster at West Alabama.

"We hold a high standard for both our football program and our university," West Alabama coach Brent Gilliland said in a statement. "We believe Ty will be successful with the detailed support structure we have at West Alabama."

The team said it expects to have Hill in uniform on Saturday when it plays Stillman College. West Alabama is a Division II school.

Hill was given probation less than two weeks ago regarding an incident with his pregnant girlfriend in December. He was accused of punching and choking her and was charged with a felony count of domestic abuse by strangulation. He was kicked off of Oklahoma State's team after he was arrested. He got probation as part of a plea deal for pleading guilty.
