The entire college football world will be praying for Marcus Lattimore.

The South Carolina running back, who tore an ACL last year and battled all the way back, suffered an injury that looked as ugly as any we've ever seen.

Chrome (@ArmstrongWTVD)and dark blue aren't in North Carolina's school colors, last we looked.

But the Tar Heels are going with that combination for today's game against N.C. State.

A tweet from Mark Armstrong of WTVD gives a good look at the UNC getup for today's game. And, well, those helmets are quite shiny, eh?

We'd rather not encourage teams like Michigan State who burned out some retinas with the shiny helmet look, and even Notre Dame's super shiny lids can make our eyes hurt.

But maybe we're in the minority on the chrome look for North Carolina today. We'll see how our eyes feel about it in a couple hours.

Betting the best, most popular teams in a sport looks tempting but can be dangerous. Oddsmakers know that people gravitate towards betting the Yankees or Lakers and adjust the spread accordingly.

Thanks to Drew Roberts of Saturday Down South, we have this gem. The pumpkin was apparently done by a Georgia fan (hence the "Muschump" moniker on the top). Assuming there isn't any photoshopping involved here, it's a pretty amazing piece of work.

Even though anything involving Muschamp looking like he's staring down a referee is scary, this really works much better if there's audio that can be activated so the pumpkin can scream at trick or treaters about "OVERCOMING ADVERSITY ON THE FIELD!"

Then the Seminoles hired Jimbo Fisher to be head coach, and life has been a little more interesting since then.

The Tallahassee Democrat wrote a funny story about Jerry Fisher, an academic coordinator in Florida State's political science department who receives plenty of emails that are meant for the head coach with the similar name.

The two "other" games came against Navy, which is 4-3, and against a strong BYU team last week. The schedule has been tough and Notre Dame has passed every test. Every game seems to be close, but the Fighting Irish have won them all.

Yet, the Irish are just fifth in the national polls and BCS standings, and the national title talk has mostly focused on the four teams ahead of them. If Notre Dame is being discussed as a legitimate contender for the BCS Championship Game, we've missed most of that chatter.

Part of the reason is that Notre Dame's schedule doesn't let up, and includes a trip to No. 8 Oklahoma on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET.

Manti Te'o continues to impress. Only a small part of the great work he does is on the field for Notre Dame.

The senior linebacker is one of the best players in the country, but the best stories of Te'o this season have been how well he has represented himself, his family and Notre Dame.

FoxSports' Greg Couch wrote a great story about how Te'o took the time to write an email to the parents of Bridget Smith, a 12-year-old girl who was dying of cancer. The email reached the family on Oct. 5, Bridget's last day. Bridget's parents got the email hours before they unplugged Bridget's ventilator.

Read the story. It's sad and beautiful. It's a great glimpse into Te'o and his character, and the best of what sports has to offer.
