The stereotype of the pretty boy quarterback probably started with Joe Namath. If it didn't start there, Namath surely perfected it.

So it's fitting that the current Alabama quarterback is following in Namath's fashion footsteps.

While A.J. McCarron isn't going to be wearing a fur coat on the sideline, he likes to look fashionable (and we're not making fun of him for it, considering he's got the whole "dating Miss Alabama" thing going on). That is why he brought a whole bagful of shoes with him to the BCS Championship Game.

How many shoes in the bag? He says there are 30 pairs.

Irish's offensive keys: The storyline of Notre Dame's offense changed late in the season. Early on it was all about quarterback Everett Golson's inconsistency, and how Tommy Rees would have to be called in from the bullpen to bail out the Irish. Golson improved dramatically down the stretch, and it can be traced back to Brian Kelly leaving him in the game despite a bad fourth quarter interception against Pitt with Notre Dame trailing. From that point he threw six touchdowns and only one interception, ran for two other scores, and his yards per attempt skyrocketed. His best target is tight end Tyler Eifert, who won the Mackey Award given to the nation's top tight end. Theo Riddick and Cierre Wood are a solid 1-2 combination at running back. They combined for 1,620 rushing yards in the regular season.

Well, with Kent State putting eyes on the front of its helmets for the GoDaddy.com Bowl, we've pretty much seen it all now.

The Arkansas State players could always feel like somebody's watching them, considering every time they looked up they'd see those eagle eye stickers on Kent State's helmets.

Forget about why Chip Kelly will stay at Oregon for a moment. Maybe he played the NFL interest into a substantial raise funded by booster and Nike co-founder Phil Knight. Maybe he didn't get quite the concessions he wanted from pro teams. Perhaps he didn't interview too well with pro teams. Those details will start to trickle in.

Here's the immediate, obvious impact: This is enormous for the Oregon football program.

ESPN reported that Kelly had turned down the Philadelphia Eagles and decided to return to the Ducks, and The Oregonian confirmed that report through a UO source. It seemed it would take a miracle for Oregon to keep Kelly again. He had an offer from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last year, and had multiple teams talk to him in the few days since the Fiesta Bowl. Oregon, aware of the possibility of Kelly leaving, had reportedly decided on a successor even before the Fiesta Bowl.

But then Oregon hit its Hail Mary. It kept its coach despite strong NFL interest. The Ducks, who have come so close to winning a national title under Kelly, are as schematically sound as any team in the nation, and its recruiting is at an elite level. Maybe that would have continued without Kelly, but Oregon doesn't have to worry about that hypothetical for the immediate future.

The SEC race will be interesting again next season, and count Georgia as one of the prime contenders.

The Bulldogs, who came so close to knocking off Alabama in the SEC Championship Game and playing for a national title on Monday, will have quarterback Aaron Murray back for another season UGASports.com reported. Murray, who needs 1,438 yards and 20 touchdowns to set SEC career records in each category, tweeted his intentions on Sunday:

Everyone watching the Redskins and Seahawks play could see Robert Griffin III becoming more and more hobbled as the game went on. Troy Aikman and Joe Buck wondered if Griffin should come out, and made the point that he was vulnerable because of the injury. Most fans at home had to be seeing the same thing and asking the same question.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan apparently never saw it. And now Shanahan has to answer why Griffin was even in the game when his already injured knee buckled in an absolutely ugly, horrible way despite his knee being in a brace. With every snap he stayed in the game on his unstable knee, this become more and more of a risk. He wasn't effective in the game, either. But Shanahan kept putting him out there. When you have just one playoff win in more than a decade like Shanahan does, you make some odd choices.

"I think everybody could see after the first quarter that he wasn't always exactly the same, but I've got a lot of players that aren't exactly the same. There's not a lot of quarterbacks that are exactly time this time of year," Shanahan said after the game. "But I still thought he could go in there and make the plays he was capable of making against an excellent defense."

What looked like a moment on trash talk from Broncos linebacker Von Miller apparently was a hoax, as a Broncos spokesman said the message in question isn't from Miller and he hasn't been on Facebook lately and the account in question has no affiliation with him or his representatives.

Here was the post, which was sent shortly after Baltimore beat Indianapolis on Sunday, setting up a Ravens-Broncos AFC playoff game next week:

Turns out, he says that account isn't his.

Seattle started terribly in its wild-card game against Washington, falling behind 14-0. It was 14-3 when Seattle's fumbled read-option handoff was on the turf, waiting for the Redskins to scoop it up and turn the first half into a rout.

Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch somehow turned it into a 20-yard gain. It might be the most Beast Mode thing he does in the game.

Seattle turned that great heads-up play into a touchdown later in the drive, and by halftime the Redskins' lead was down to 14-13.
