One of the top quarterback recruits in the nation finds himself in some legal trouble after he's alleged to have struck a tree with his car, then got back in the car and hit a parked car before leaving the scene.

Kevin Olsen, a Miami (Fla.) four-star recruit from Wayne, N.J. (and the brother of former Hurricanes tight end Greg Olsen), is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident and careless driving, according to court records obtained by the Wayne Patch. The South Florida Sun-Sentinel also reported on the incident.

What makes this accident a bit unusual is that according to the report Olsen hit a tree, got out to survey the damage, got back in his car and then hit another vehicle.

The Wayne Patch reported that a bystander told police Olsen got back in his car after hitting the tree, then struck a parked car and walked away from the scene. According to the court report obtained by the Wayne Patch, the bystander told police, "Olsen’s face appeared to have blood on it and that he 'appeared to be under the influence of something.'"

The Sun-Sentinel said a Miami spokesperson said the school is looking into the incident.

Olsen is ranked as the 12th best pro-style quarterback in the class of 2013 by Rivals.com.

Oregon RB De'Anthony Thomas (USA Today Sports Images)Phil Steele's annual college football preview has become the go-to book for serious college football fans, and the unveiling of his All-America team is a sign the season is getting closer.

Steele's All-America team doesn't produce a whole lot of surprises, which is fine. Perhaps one could argue why De'Anthony Thomas is ahead of Ka'Deem Carey or Todd Gurley at running back, or why Cyrus Kouandijo couldn't break into the top two tackles, but as one would imagine he made good selections all around.

While a simple "no" to the University of Alabama probably would have sufficed, top running back recruit Elijah Hood made it pretty clear he doesn't want any more mail from the Crimson Tide.

Hood, from Charlotte, N.C., is a top running back recruit, ranked third among running backs by Rivals and 13th overall in the class of 2014. He wanted to get rid of some recruiting letters Alabama sent him, and what better way than to flush them down the toilet and post a Vine video of it to Twitter? (Click here to see the Vine video.)

(Getty)Once Gordon Gee's controversial comments came to light, it was fair to wonder how his tenure at Ohio State would end up.

Even if he was joking, remarking that you "can't trust those damn Catholics" and wondering if SEC students can read is not a good look for a college president – and it wasn't the first time some off-the-cuff remarks got him in some trouble. After many apologies, and canceling a commencement speech at a local Catholic high school, Gee announced he would retire on July 1.

It's probably not the fitting finish the 69-year-old Gee, also famous for his large collection of bow ties, had in mind.

“Without question, the university has achieved remarkable success, and it has been my honor and calling to lead it,” Gee said in an email to students, faculty and staff, according to the Columbus Dispatch. “Ohio State is well-positioned for the future. I love this university, and my relationship with it will continue.”

The Dispatch story doesn't say if Gee was pressured to retire after the comments. In the news release, Gee said he came to the decision after a family vacation.

"During my days away, I also spent some time in self-reflection. And after much deliberation, I have decided it is now time for me to turn over the reins of leadership to allow the seeds that we have planted to grow. It is also time for me to re-energize and refocus myself," Gee said.

This is a tough list to pare down to five names, so we had to make some decisions. And one was that system guys wouldn't make the cut.

Andre Ware, Danny Wuerffel and Hawaii quarterbacks like Colt Brennan and Timmy Chang aren't making it. We kind of understand why they put up great college numbers and didn't make it in the NFL (don't the Lions wish they had figured it out back in 1990, when they made Ware the seventh pick of the draft). They put up monster numbers in a scheme that fit them perfectly. And also, we're leaving off a couple of Nebraska quarterbacks. Tommie Frazier is universally loved, and everyone understands that the offense he played in and some health issues kept him from the NFL.

In the case of Eric Crouch, we feel like Miami's Ken Dorsey was simply a better college quarterback.

When the news hit about Ohio State president Gordon Gee joking that you "can't trust those damn Catholics," the folks at St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus probably had a few awkward moments.

You see, DeSales is a Catholic high school. And they had secured a pretty nice speaker for their graduation ceremony. Yep, Gordon Gee.

There had to be some fear that Gordon The Entertainer would use commencement at DeSales to reprise his audition for "Original Kings of Comedy II" and start swinging on Catholics and Bret Bielema and insinuating SEC students are illiterate, but Gee won't get the chance.

Gee has canceled his speech, set for Saturday, the Columbus Dispatch reported. That obviously allows everyone to avoid a sticky situation, especially because Gee's speech probably would have drawn plenty of media attention.

“He really wanted to ensure that the appropriate focus was kept on the young people who are graduating,” university spokeswoman Gayle Saunders said, according to the Dispatch.

That's too bad. Gee with an open mic might have made graduation pretty lively.

The other schools in the state of Texas were fine, but didn't stand out. They were in the same conference as the Longhorns, battling for the same recruits, and there was really no reason to go anywhere but Texas. It was Texas, that's the state's team, and the others were battling for second.

Texas A&M's move to the SEC may have totally changed the landscape. A school finally differentiated itself, in a major way. The commitment of top quarterback Kyle Allen is just another sign that the game might be changing in the Lone Star State.

Realignment was a pain for most college fans, who had to sit by while school presidents chased paychecks at the expense of everything in the sport, but the one move that made sense was Texas A&M to the SEC. The Aggies have a different pitch now. They can sit in a recruit's living room and ask if they want to come play in the greatest conference in college football. What is Texas going to counter with, a trip to Ames, Iowa?

Dye's allegations to the Coral Gables Police Department will go even further towards making the pro-Miami crowd believe that the NCAA's investigation into the Hurricanes has been severely tainted.
