    • Central Florida latest to change its uniforms in the offseason

(UCF Athletics via the Orlando Sentinel)The offseason is a time for reflection, and that goes for a team judging its uniforms too.

If you're going to make a change and have a major shoe company interested in the marketing opportunity that comes along with it, now is as good of a time as any.

While Central Florida's changes aren't as drastic as Extreme Makeover: Oregon State Edition, the new uniforms by Nike look pretty nice.

    • (USA Today Sports Images)This offseason we will count down various topics from Monday through Friday, bringing you the top five of the important and definitely some not so important issues in college football. It's the Doc Five, every week until we will thankfully have actual games to discuss.

THE BEST TWO-SPORT COLLEGE FOOTBALL/BASKETBALL PLAYERS

      NO. 4, TONY GONZALEZ

This list of greatest players who played both football and basketball in college is surprisingly strong. Donovan McNabb, Julius Peppers and Chris Chambers are three NFL Pro Bowlers who didn't make it. Neither did Super Bowl champion Antwaan Randle El or NBA slam dunk champion Nate Robinson.

The greatest tight end who has ever lived was a key part of a Cal basketball team that made the NCAA tournament sweet 16, and he can't even crack the top three.

    • Heisman voters threatened to keep ballot quiet, or lose the vote

(USA Today Sports Images)The Heisman Trophy straw poll has become part of the award's popularity.

The poll of voters, the best and most well-known of which are HeismanPundit.com and StiffArmTrophy.com, keeps the race in the news for weeks, as do columns by writers explaining their vote. People don't tune in on that Saturday night of the announcement and think about who might win the Heisman for the first time, it has been in the news all fall. The ebbs and flows of the Heisman race are fun to track.

The Heisman Trophy Trust doesn't like this, and wants to stop the flow of information before the official announcement. So it is threatening to take away a voter's ballot if he or she makes it public, according to CBSSports.com.

THE BEST TWO-SPORT COLLEGE FOOTBALL/BASKETBALL PLAYERS

      NO. 5, JACKIE ROBINSON

If our first entry on the list has you scratching your head, gather around for a history lesson on the great Jackie Robinson.

Robinson's legend for what he did to integrate baseball is well known and deserved. So are his achievements on the diamond for the Brooklyn Dodgers. It's an absolute shame that Robinson's legend for what he did strictly on the field (or, better yet, fields ... and court, too) at UCLA isn't celebrated enough.

Consider this: While Robinson was a Bruin, baseball might have been his fourth best sport. Many people know about Robinson's four-sport ability, but it's a little surprising everybody doesn't.

    • Spring football 25: Missouri Tigers

(USA Today Sports Images)Dr. Saturday will be looking at the 25 most interesting teams headed into spring football through March, examining which programs have the biggest questions, the most expectations and the best storylines. This isn’t the 25 best going into the spring, just the 25 we’re keeping the closest eye on. Previously: West Virginia.

      MISSOURI

      What happened in 2012
The Tigers’ first year in the SEC was rough, to say the least.

With tougher competition, Missouri faded into obscurity. The Tigers finished 5-7 with two league wins, at home against Kentucky and a four-overtime game against a down Tennessee team. For the first time since 2004, Missouri didn’t go to a bowl.

What made its first season in the SEC even worse was that Texas A&M was also expected to have a tough time in its first SEC season, but the Aggies went 11-2 with a final ranking in the top five. Texas A&M beat Missouri by 30 in the regular-season finale.

Injuries and inconsistency, particularly to quarterback James Franklin, didn’t help. But there has to be legitimate concern going forward about Missouri’s ability to compete in college football’s toughest conference.

What makes them interesting in 2013

    • West Virginia coach identified as “Dana Horsewomen” on TV news clip

(Deadspin.com)Auto-correct functions on devices make for some humorous mistakes. Some are just more humorous than others.

Deadspin pointed out a funny mistake by the television station WSAZ. On a television news graphic, West Virginia football coach Dana Holgorsen is listed as "Dana Horsewomen," in a report about JaJuan Seider being hired by the Mountaineers to be their running backs coach.

Mr. Graphics Editor, you had one job!

    • (Courtesy of Erin Drewes)Erin Drewes finally returned a message left for her to talk about a six-year old picture that made her a brief and unwilling Internet star. She admitted she was apprehensive, in part because her first experience with fame was difficult at times.

She was photographed at a party with Tim Tebow in 2007. It wasn't her photo, and she doesn't even remember it being taken. Someone started the rumor that she was Tebow's girlfriend, and there was no stopping that train for a while, even though she didn't ask for any of the attention that came with it.

This was not typical in 2007. Twitter was just getting popular, the blogosphere was still growing. Drewes still has hard feelings about some of the things that were written about her on the Internet. She was just a normal college student who wasn't even dating Tebow (they were acquaintances who saw each other around the Florida campus once in a while, she has said), and all of a sudden she was reading rude comments about a picture someone else took. It isn't too unusual today for a girlfriend of a college football star to become an instant public figure, but it was a surprise for Tebow's non-girlfriend in those days.

Drewes didn't turn her 15 minutes into a Katherine Webb-type tour. She said she did one interview, with Playboy, and did some pictures for the magazine in which she wore a Tebow body paint jersey. She lives a normal life, as a nurse who is working on her master's degree to be a nurse practitioner. But she'll always be somewhat well known for being the student next to Tebow in that picture, thanks to Internet searches.

She was surprised to see the whole story resurface and get an interview request when she was included in our "Top five most famous college football girlfriends" list. She decided to chat with Dr. Saturday about what it's like to become an involuntary viral star and what it's like years after the fad has passed:

I have nothing against beer. I was born in Milwaukee and went to school at the University of Wisconsin. I'd be disowned by my home state if I didn't like it.

For the most part, college football doesn't sell beer in stadiums. There is a reason for that. And that attitude seems to be changing. That might not be for the best.

The Daily Texan student newspaper had a nice scoop, as Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds said the school is considering selling beer at football, basketball and baseball games. First, let's address an absolutely ridiculous quote from the story:

TOP FIVE MOST FAMOUS GIRLFRIENDS IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL

NO. 1, KATHERINE WEBB (AJ MCCARRON)

We posted a story about Katherine Webb appearing in Vanity Fair on Thursday. By Friday morning, there were more than 4,000 comments on the bottom of the post. For the last two months, Webb has been the biggest star associated with college football.

Our last two posts on Johnny Manziel, the first freshman Heisman Trophy winner ever, generated about 350 comments combined. Two posts this week on Jadeveon Clowney, the likely first pick of the 2014 NFL draft, got a little more than 300 comments. That's obviously far from an accurate or scientific method of proving stardom, but it says something.

There's no question about Webb's fame anymore. That's undeniable. The story of Miss Alabama, an Auburn grad, dating Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron started to spread in December. It took off during the BCS Championship Game when Webb was shown on television. And then shown again. And again.

It was a perfect storm. Brent Musburger's comments about her during a boring title game were the most talked-about part of the night on social media. Webb's Twitter followers grew by hundreds of thousands. She embraced the fame and has been in the spotlight since.

The question becomes, where does Webb go from here?

    • Army-Navy color video from 1939 surfaces on YouTube

If you like nostalgic old college football videos (check) and enjoy the Army-Navy rivalry at all (check), there was quite a find posted to YouTube this week.
