    • Video: Wozniacki and Clijsters grunt loudly during exhibition

This jokey point during Thursday's exhibition between Caroline Wozniacki and Kim Clijsters would be funny if it wasn't what an actual match between Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka sounds like.

Clijsters won the exhibition 6-2, 7-6. All credit goes to the grunting.

    • Philadelphia fans made fiancee of Eagles rookie cry

      booing eagles fans

A Philadelphia Eagles rookie said the team's fans were so vicious to his family members at a recent game that they made his fiancee cry.

Fourth-round pick Casey Matthews has struggled in his first season in Philadelphia, not living up to the lofty expectations his surname carries. While his brother Clay stars in Green Bay and his uncle Bruce has a bust in Canton, Casey has played mainly on special teams throughout the Eagles' disappointing 2011 campaign.

[Fantasy Football video: Biggest busts of 2011]

Recently, that led to his hometown fans taunting his fiancee. He told Philly.com's Les Bowen that she was with her aunt and young cousin:

"They harassed [them] and made my fiancee cry. It's tough. It's frustrating. That's just how they are here. If you win they love you, so I guess we've just got to turn things around and just start winning again."

Matthews should be upset. Heckling a family wearing the jersey of a player is low, even for Philadelphia. But part of me thinks some of this

    • Headhunter: James Harrison flagged for vicious hit on Colt McCoy

      james harrison colt mccoy

James Harrison is never going to learn.

Late in the fourth quarter of the Pittsburgh Steelers' ugly 14-3 victory over the Cleveland Browns, the oft-fined linebacker drew a 15-yard penalty for a vicious helmet-to-helmet hit on quarterback Colt McCoy.

As the Browns quarterback ran up in the pocket, Harrison approached to prevent McCoy from running for a first down. McCoy released the ball quickly. Just as he did, Harrison launched himself at the quarterback, raising his helmet ever-so-slightly before contact. He led with the crown and never attempted to dip his neck. Harrison hit McCoy on the rise and made contact with his helmet -- a textbook illegal hit.

McCoy left the game for three plays but returned later in the drive.

We've defended players getting flagged for dirty hits on this site a number of times. Sometimes it's impossible for a defender to change his trajectory or angle to avoid hitting a player coming at him at full speed. This wasn't one of those circumstances. Harrison

    • Game Point: Kim’s back! Clijsters wins exhibition over Wozniacki

      clijsters exo 11

Game Point is Busted Racquet's roundup of news, stats and links from around the web.

Love -- Kim Clijsters returned to "competitive" tennis for the first time since August, defeating Caroline Wozniacki 6-2, 7-6 in an exhibition in Brussels. It's just an exo, yes, but from the little bit of the match I saw, Clijsters looked fit, trim and ready to contend in 2012. Loved the hair too.

15 -- We're still 23 days away from 2012, but Robin Soderling has already stated he won't be able to play in next year's Australian Open. The Swede has been battling mono since mid-July. He says he feels better and hopes to begin full training in January, in time for a February return.

30 -- Andy Murray's mother, Judy, will be the next coach of the British Federation Cup team. She'll replace Nigel Sears, who is the father of Andy's girlfriend, Kim. There's a Shakespeare play somewhere in there, methinks.

40 -- Roger Federer will play against the U.S. in next February's Davis Cup tie in Switzerland. Yay?

    • Video: Brady curses about offense, Belichick and Manning converse

For this week's edition of "Sound FX," the NFL Network followed Tom Brady and Bill Belichick during the New England Patriots victory over the Indianapolis Colts. In this four-minute clip, you hear Brady dropping some choice (and bleeped) f-words about the offense's lack of time on the field, Belichick boldly stating that the 0-11 Colts defense can't stop his offense and conversations between each of them and Peyton Manning.

It's all great and I recommend watching the whole thing. Pay particular attention to the snap that begins at the 2:28 mark. One thing that never ceases to amaze me when you get up-close camera angles like this is how fast the game goes. Snap, step, throw, hit, touchdown, all in the span of three seconds. Somehow it seems much faster from a ground-level view.

When watching these things, I always wonder how much different players and coaches are when they know the microphone is on them. It's not something I'd expect them to think about while on the field and in the

    • Raiders’ Chris Johnson leaves team after family tragedy

chris johnson raidersOakland Raiders cornerback Chris Johnson left the team Wednesday to be with his family in Texas after a shooting left his sister dead and his mother severely wounded.

Jennifer Johnson, 33, was shot and killed on Wednesday. Her mother, Della Johnson, was also wounded in the incident but is expected to survive.

Police arrested Jennifer's estranged boyfriend, 46-year-old Eugene Esters, for the crimes. He is charged with murder and attempted murder. Bail was set at $750,000.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Esters and Johnson argued about their 2-year-old child, who was not at the scene. Homicide detectives say Esters lived with Johnson but had been asked to move out recently.

Chris Johnson had missed most of the 2011 season after getting an infection following sports hernia surgery during training camp. He returned to the lineup in last week's loss to the Miami Dolphins. Coaches expect him to return to the team in time for Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers.

    • Caroline Wozniacki imitates Serena Williams during exhibition

Just about the only thing Caroline Wozniacki has in common with Novak Djokovic is that they each finished 2011 as the No. 1 player in tennis. Aside from that, Caroline is far behind Novak in terms of Grand Slam prowess and imitating other players.

During a recent exhibition against Dominika Cibulkova, the 20-year-old Dane tried her hand at impersonating the sport's biggest star, Serena Williams.

      Rapid fire thoughts:

      1. The concept is pretty funny and Wozniacki has the Serena waddle down pat. Thus concludes our praise of Wozniacki's impression.

      2. Rihanna is playing in the background? Try Green Day, Caro.

      3. Caroline, those dance moves are atrocious. You-in-Grand-Slams atrocious.

      4. If you're going to sell it, then go all out. I'm not believing Wozniacki. Sure, she bends over at the baseline to return serve, but she's not staying in character. Where's the emotion? Where's the empathy? Somebody get her a book on Stanislavski.

      5. My favorite part, by far: Even when imitating the

    • Vonn wins first World Cup race in U.S., celebrates by Tebowing

      vonn tebowing

For all her dominance on the ski slopes, Lindsey Vonn had never won a major race in her home state of Colorado. Heck, she had never even won a World Cup competition in the United States.

So when she crossed the finish line with the fastest time in Wednesday's super-G at Beaver Creek, Colo., Vonn rejoiced. Then, like any good Colorado native, she honored the state's newest folk hero. For when Lindsey got to the medal stand, she celebrated her victory by taking a knee and Tebowing.

She had permission to do it from Tim Tebow's brother, Robby. The two met at the ESPY Awards this summer and have become close friends since. (They are not dating, the newly single Vonn insists.) Before she went up the hill for the race, she said she asked Tebow's brother whether it was all right if she celebrated with Tim's patented, and much celebrated, pose.

"I asked him if Tim would be upset if I did it," Vonn told reporters. "I said that if I won in

    • How the NFL failed America and kept Tim Tebow off prime time

NFLCancel the sitter, put the champagne back on ice and get ready to watch "NCIS" or something; Tim Tebow won't be on prime time next Sunday night.

CBS won an intense battle with NBC to keep Dec. 18's New England Patriots vs. Denver Broncos game on its network for a 4:15 p.m. ET kickoff. The NFL and NBC had wanted to flex the game to Sunday night to replace the not-nearly-as-attractive Baltimore Ravens vs. San Diego Chargers game. That game will  start in its regularly scheduled prime-time slot.

CBS had every right to want Saint Tim vs. Tom Terrific to stay on the network. The matchup of two of the greatest, and most handsome, talents the league has ever seen, will bring in astronomical ratings for whichever network has the game, and CBS felt it was its turn to get in on that Tebow action.

Last week, the network had to give up the Broncos vs. Vikings game to Fox after Fox was left with one fewer 1 p.m. ET game when its Lions vs. Saints matchup was flexed to Sunday night. With Tebow

    • NFL teaming with Disney to put on problem-free Super Bowl

      nfl super bowl seats

It took a massive ice storm and an embarrassing seating snafu, but the NFL is finally attempting to get the Super Bowl experience right. The league announced Wednesday that it would team with Disney to provide a better atmosphere for fans attending this year's game in Indianapolis.

Over 20,000 employees who will work and attend the game are to be trained by the Disney Institute in Orlando, Michael McCarthy of USA Today reported. The "Fans First" initiative will teach the same customer-friendly techniques to NFL employees that Disney cast members and staff learn at the company's theme parks.

Other revolutionary measures being taken by the NFL include only selling tickets for existing seats and extending the presence of staffers to area hotels and parking lots, so the flow of game traffic will be eased for fans unfamiliar with the area. McCarthy also reports the league will use Lucas Oil Field ushers and employees for the first time, rather than bringing in their own people to work
