    • Missy Franklin says her huge feet are a big topic in London

      (AP)

Missy Franklin is getting lots of attention in London and it has nothing to do with her historic medal haul at the Aquatics Centre. Well, it has something to do with it.

The 17-year-old rising high school senior told NBC on Monday that her size 13 feet have been drawing attention from athletes around the Olympics. Host Michele Beadle joked that she'd put a stop to those having fun at the expense of Missy's trotters, but Missy, in her typical bubbly demeanor, said she doesn't mind. In fact, she's proud of her big feet.

And why wouldn't she be? Those feet helped her win four gold medals in London and played a part in her becoming America's Olympic sweetheart. Her dad says they're Missy's "built-in flippers."

Sometimes you see young female athletes with abnormal size become uncomfortable in their bodies. Missy has none of that. Given how gracefully she moves in and out of the pool with her 6-foot-1 frame (remember

This is a picture of the 34-year-old father of two who allegedly threw a beer bottle onto the track before Sunday night's 100-meter men's final. The bottle landed a few feet from Yohan Blake and Usain Bolt before their medal runs in the highly anticipated sprint.

His name is Ashley Gill-Webb and he was charged in Stratford magistrates' court with intending to cause intentional harassment, alarm or distress. The Guardian reports he has two children and is a member of a local soccer team.

The back of his jacket appears to read "Queen O'Towd Thatch: Public House," which is the name of a bar in Leeds. Not that he'd have been able to read it himself: The alleged perp was wearing sunglasses at night.

The justice system would be wise to charge Webb with his biggest crime of all: those cargo jeans.

    • (AP)Hungarian Daniel Gyurta, the winner of the 200 breaststroke in London, will make a replica copy of his gold medal and give it to the family of Alexander Dale Oen, the world champion breaststroker who died three months before the Summer Olympics because of an undetected heart abnormality.

Dale Oen was to have been the favorite in the 100 breast. He won a silver in the event in Beijing -- Norway's first-ever swimming medal -- and followed it up with a world championships victory in 2011. His sudden death stunned the swimming world.

"We became very good friends this year," Gyurta told Hungarian reporters. "I'm sure that he would have won the 100 here in London. This is the least I can do to pay respect to my friend."

A Norwegian swimming official, speaking on behalf of Dale Oen's family, said the gesture was appreciated.

Dale Oen was considered the greatest swimmer in Norwegian history and was expected to be a heavy medal favorite in

    • Beer bottle thrown at Usain Bolt before 100 final (PHOTOS)

A beer bottle thrown from the stands landed near Usain Bolt in the moments before the 100-meter final Sunday night in London.

As Bolt and seven other competitors ducked into their starting crouches, a bottle sailed from the first row of the stands at Olympic Stadium.

It harmlessly bounced in the lane belonging to Yohan Blake and didn't appear to cause a distraction to the runners, who started a split-second later. The thrower's lack of distance was a blessing. Had he gathered tips from the competitors of the hammer throw competition, which was taking place in the infield at the same time as the 100 final, the bottle could have hit one of the competitors. It ended up landing a few feet from Blake (lane 5).

Edith Bosch, a female Dutch judoka who won a bronze medal earlier during the Olympics, claimed that the man who threw the bottle was sitting near her and that she "beat" him. Whether that's true or the hyperbole of an aggravated athlete was unclear in the minutes after the

    • Big Bird was loving Andy Murray’s Olympic gold (PHOTO)

Andy Murray capped off the greatest 24 hours in British sports history on Sunday with a thorough dismantling of world No. 1 and longtime nemesis Roger Federer in the gold-medal match at the Olympics.

Following the path blazed by fellow British Olympians like Rebecca Ennis, Mo Farah and Greg Rutherford, Murray won a title in his homeland on the most sacred ground in tennis. And no one was more excited than Big Bird.

[ Photos: Wild fans at London Olympics ]

Murray pulled the now-requisite Pat Cash move of climbing into his player's box to celebrate with his friends and family after defeating Federer 6-1, 6-2, 6-4. As he did, the camera caught a guy cheering wildly while dressed in the costume of  Snuffleupagus' best pal. If the purple bunting, colored clothing and raucous cheering didn't alert you to the fact that the Olympics don't equal Wimbledon, Big Bird's presence surely did.

      Gordon was unavailable for comment.

    • Is this the longest name of the Olympics?

      (Reddit)

We're not entirely sure the last name of Iranian weightlifter Saeid Mohammadpourkarkaragh is the longest of the Olympics. There are almost 10,000 athletes at the Games and scanning through the rosters on the official website isn't an easy task.

But at 21 letters, it has to be close. How long is it? Consider:

      • He has as many last-name letters as Michael Phelps has career gold medals.

      • There are 17 more letters in his last name than in the name of his home country.

      • It is 20 letters longer than the shortest last name at the Olympics. There's a Chinese judoka named Lamusi A. Just "A."

    • Serena Williams did the crip walk after winning gold (PHOTOS)

Serena Williams dropped it like it was hot on Saturday, celebrating her first singles gold medal by performing an impromptu crip walk, a short dance move popularized by gang members in her hometown of Compton.

The move mostly passed by without incident because crip walk controversies date from the same era in which a bare bottom on "NYPD Blue" was considered risque. The dance was just a dance, a nice homage to Serena's hometown. But then someone overreacted and ginned up a phony controversy on this side of the Atlantic and now the very fabric of our culture is threatened because Serena chose to do a rhythmic shout-out.

      On FoxSports.com:

And there was Serena — the tennis legend, the winner of 14 individual Grand Slams, the best player of her generation, the American girl being crowned at the All-England Club as the queen of tennis — Crip-Walking all over the most lily-white place in the world.

She didn't do it on purpose. It was a moment of unbridled joy. She pumped her fist, jumped up

    • An emotional Michael Phelps was on the verge of tears during a poolside interview after the final race of his Olympic career and told a halting story that ended with a non sequitur.

Phelps seemed to get emotional while listening to his three teammates speak unprompted about what it meant to be in a pool with the greatest swimmer alive. Brendan Hansen, the American team captain and breaststroke medalist, spoke fondly of Phelps and mentioned how Phelps has had so much impact in the sport that it allows 30-year-old guys like him to keep swimming. As you watched Phelps during Hansen's words, he looked emotional.

    • "Quiet for the start, please." Five words universally heard around swimming pools, from rec leagues to high school to the Olympics. Someone didn't heed the request on Saturday night in London.

A spectator shouted while the eight men in the 1,500 freestyle final were in their starting crouches, causing the starter to ask the swimmers to stand up in order to begin the starting process again. Sun Yang, the No. 1 seed, only heard the starter's voice and reacted like it was the starting tone. He dove into the pool while his competitors stood up and, for a moment, it looked like he might be disqualified for going too early. Announcers on NBC's live streaming feed -- hardly authorities on swimming rules and regulations, if you've had the displeasure of listening this week -- thought Sun was done.
