In November, it seemed all but certain that Tyler Hansbrough would run away with National Player of the Year honors for the second straight season. That he would win the ACC Player of the Year award was but a foregone conclusion. But now, with just six games left in conference play, Hansbrough is bunched among a crowded field of candidates for All-ACC consideration. With his name, past history and Carolina pedigree Hansbrough is virtually assured of earning his fourth straight All-Conference selection. But will he deserve it?
As Winston-Salem Journal writer Dan Collins pointed out on his blog this morning, there are eight legitimate candidates to make the All-ACC team in Hansbrough, Ty Lawson, Jeff Teague, Jack McClinton, Malcolm Delaney, Toney Douglas, Tyrese Rice and Trevor Booker. This means that three deserving players will get bumped to the second team.
