It's been a rough couple of days for world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki. Late last month she blew a match point in the Australian Open semifinals and went on to lose to Li Na. It was her fifth straight Grand Slam without reaching the final. Then, this past weekend, Wozniacki was playing in a Federation Cup tie against Great Britain. She won her singles point and took to the court with 18-year-old Mai Grage for the decisive doubles match.

During the match, she was drilled in the face with a shot by Heather Watson:

Wozniacki took a brief medical timeout but returned to the court to finish the match. She and Grage lost, giving Great Britain the Group A victory.

To add insult to (literal) injury, Wozniacki is on the verge of losing her No. 1 ranking to Kim Clijsters this week. With two wins in Open Gaz de France, Clijsters will pass Wozniacki it WTA rankings points and be the new top-ranked player in the world when the rankings are released Monday.

Mike Tomlin didn't offer any excuses after his Pittsburgh Steelers walked off the field as losers in Super Bowl XLV.

He didn't complain about the officials or take a subtle swipe at a coordinator or indirectly blame the kicker either. There was no talk about the condition of the field or any insinuations that his team was the better one. Mike Tomlin doesn't roll like that. In his various interviews with media outlets after his team's 31-25 loss to the Green Bay Packers, the 37-year-old coach was all class.

His talks with the press, particularly with Chris Myers(notes) on FOX's postgame coverage, could serve as a blueprint for how to lose with dignity. The 400 Super Bowl ticket holders who lost their seats at Cowboys Stadium because a temporary seating structure wasn't approved by a fire marshal will be guests at next year's Super Bowl, the NFL announced on Monday. Displaced fans will also receive $2,400, triple the face value of the $800 tickets that went to waste.

The move was the league's initial attempt at damage control from the embarrassing incident, which they admitted to knowing about early last week. It's a fine effort but makes the mistake of presuming that more tickets and money can replace the experience of watching your favorite team in the Super Bowl.

"It's not the money. It's the whole issue. We came here for the memories and it's not happening," said Wayne Rusch, a Green Bay Packers fan told CNN on Sunday.

League spokesman Brian McCarthy wrote on his Twitter account:

The 1,200 displaced fans at Super Bowl XLV contributed to Cowboys Stadium's failure to set a Super Bowl attendance record, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy admitted on Monday.

A total of 103,219 people packed Jerry Jones' $1.3 billion mega-stadium on Sunday night, 766 fewer than at the 1980 Super Bowl held at the Rose Bowl. Jones had spoken numerous times about his desire to break that record and went to great lengths to ensure that his stadium would set the mark. The Cowboys erected temporary seating high in the end zones and in standing room areas, and also created an outdoor party plaza that's main purpose was to drive up the attendance numbers.

In the end, it wasn't enough. McCarthy told ESPN Dallas that the seats not being completed in time for the game were the reason for the failure to break the mark.

A total of 88,060 purchased tickets inside the stadium, while 3,000 more watched on video monitors at the outdoor party plaza. The

Early in Super Bowl XLV, FOX cut to a shot of a star-studded luxury box at Cowboys Stadium that polarized living rooms across the country.

Former President George W. Bush was with his wife Laura, a development likely appreciated by Republicans and scorned by Democrats. Though we're all pleased to see Michael Douglas looking so good after treatment for throat cancer, his presence in the box may have reminded folks of the $9.50 they blew on "Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps." Winning the Super Bowl was only the second biggest event of Jarius Wynn's(notes) Sunday.

The wife of the Green Bay Packers defensive end delivered the couple's second child early Sunday in Dallas. Martavia Wynn had been out to eat on Saturday night with Jarius and some other family members when her water broke in the middle of dinner. She was taken to a nearby hospital while Jarius, who was supposed to be back at the team hotel, stayed at her side.

By morning, the Wynn's welcomed 7-pound, 4-ounce Jarius Jr. into the world.

Wynn only slept 90 minutes on Saturday night but still managed to play special teams for the Packers and made it to the field for three defensive plays.
