A dry run for a prank intended for a high school football game in New Jersey went horribly wrong on Wednesday, with the pilot of an airplane dropping toilet paper over a school field where young soccer players were practicing, leading to the involvement of local and federal police involvement and, eventually, the man's arrest.

According to the Associated Press and NorthJersey.com, a Cessna 172S was seen making circles above an athletic field near Westwood Regional Schools complex on Wednesday evening, dropping toilet paper on each pass over the school's athletic field. According to CliffviewPilot.com and NorthJersey.com, the pilot of the plane was 60-year-old Warren Saunders (at right entering a New Jersey court on Thursday), who was practicing for a streamer drop he planned for Westwood Regional (N.J.) High's football game against Mahwah (N.J.) High on Saturday.

Saunders is the father of a Westwood Cardinals football player, and NorthJersey.com reported that police were able to locate

After playing on a rundown surface for years, Hollywood (Calif.) High will play on a new, immaculate grass field for the first time on Friday. It turns out to get it, the school just needed to ask Mickey Mouse for one.

Naturally, that's not quite the whole story. Rather, as Eric Sondheimer reported in the Los Angeles Times, Hollywood High was playing on a rundown field, and Disney needed a large outdoor facility near its movie studios to use for a big "Toy Story 3" event over the summer. Hollywood High offered its field, with the stipulation that Disney replace the turf afterwards. The movie studio was all too happy to oblige, installing top-of-the-line turf after the event wrapped up.

To accommodate the installation of the new turf -- and Disney's needs for the prior surface -- Hollywood High had to play its first five games away from home and practice at a nearby park.

Last month, Snohomish (Wash.) High's Ike Ditzenberger scored the biggest touchdown of his life. Now, he's lining up dates with homecoming princesses, preparing for interviews with "Dateline NBC" and pondering a Hollywood future for his story. Really.

According to the Seattle Times, Ditzenberger has been inundated with media requests and interest since video of the Ike Special touchdown first appeared on YouTube, Prep Rally and a host of other blogs and websites last month. You can actually see a new "director's cut" of the play, which includes angles from game film provided by both coaching staffs, above. Last week, with Snohomish hosting its annual homecoming game and dance, Ditzenberger was a celebrity, riding on the back of a town fire truck for the team's homecoming parade.

Later, after cheering his teammates to a 21-17 win over heated school rival Marysville-Pilchuck -- a victory which included a special touchdown celebration between Ditzenberger and Snohomish junior quarterback

Mountain Crest (Utah) and Springville (Utah) High Schools were scheduled to play a huge non-league football game on Wednesday night. The matchup never happened, and now coaches for other Utah schools are accusing the two Class 4A powerhouse schools of unsportsmanlike collusion ahead of the state playoffs, where Mountain Crest and Springville could potentially meet in the semifinals.

"We just felt like with the playoffs getting close, try to get our kids healthy for that," Mountain Crest coach Mark Wootton told the Salt Lake Tribune.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, both schools have already clinched playoff berths, so neither was in dire need of a victory outside region action. As with all school schedules in Utah, non-region games are planned by agreement between the two schools, so they can be canceled at any time without direct penalty. With that in mind, the two schools got together on Monday and decided to call off their game, giving them both a de facto late season bye.

What's the new hip sport among Colorado teenagers? Lacrosse? Sure, it's still growing, but lacrosse hasn't qualified as the hippest Colorado high school sport since the late 90s. Football? Always popular, but not any more now that is has been for decades.

Instead, the true "it" sport among Colorado high schoolers may be mountain biking, with teams from 19 different schools scheduled to line up at a race on Saturday. The Bear Creek Park course in Lakewood, Colo. will serve as the third and final race before a state championship race scheduled for Oct. 31 near Elbert, Colo. According to a story by the Denver Post's Scott Willoughby, this year's four-race competitive high school program may just be the tip of the iceberg for mountain biking in the state.

"It's a no-brainer for Colorado," Kate Rau, the organizer of the Colorado High School Cycling League told the Post. "It's going off. We've had more than 180 kids register and 144 competitors at both of our first two races. I can pretty

It's no surprise that a Pacific Coast League water polo showdown between Corona del Mar (Calif.) and Irvine (Calif.) High Schools would get plenty of attention. After all, both schools are perennial challengers for the league title and both the Sea Kings and Vaqueros take water polo very seriously. Yet last week the teams' face-off was thrust into the spotlight because of a dangerous incident during the game, not the 8-7 Corona del Mar victory.

According to the Orange County Register, Irvine defender Zack Kamai, one of the Vaqueros' stars, was forced to leave the game late in the third quarter with Irvine nursing a four-goal lead, after he floated to the surface with a serious throat injury. Kamai claimed that he had been choked by a Corona del Mar player, and the video you see above shows a Sea Kings player holding Kamai under the water during a tense sequence in front of the Irving goal.

When Indiana high school cross country coaches look at their state poll, they've started seeing a team they're not used to in their ranks. Even those who might recognize a team called HSU might not understand why they aren't more familiar: they don't actually hail from an Indiana school at all.

That's because Home School Union is a program designed to let homeschooled students compete in varsity cross country, with runners from across Southern Indiana competing for the team. After starting the program in 1999, HSU coach Jon Sweetland has watched his stable of runners grow, both in number and age. Finally, for the first time in state history, coaches were so impressed this year that his girls' cross country team was selected for a spot in the indianrunner.com Indiana High School Athletic Association girls' cross country poll, even though Home School Union isn't technically an IHSAA school (and therefore shouldn't qualify for the poll).

Wayne Gretzky may be the greatest hockey player in history, but his son, Trevor Gretzky, is aiming to gain respect -- and maybe even fame -- in a very different sport. Last Friday, the Oaks Christian (Calif.) High School senior committed to play baseball at San Diego State, where he'll try to help Aztecs coach and Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn reach his first College World Series.

"The campus is beautiful and the program stood out to me," Gretzky told the San Diego Union-Tribune. "All the coaches were great. Both of us have the same goals, to make it to the College World Series."

Gwynn and Aztec fans will be thrilled to hear about the left-handed hitter's commitment, particularly since some of SDSU's prime West Coast competitors like USC and Cal Poly Pomona were also interested in the Los Angeles-area native commitment.
