Like many Little Leaguers in Georgia, 6-year-old Reece Holloway dreams of growing up to be like Chipper Jones. The diminutive elementary schooler has plenty of talent on his side, too, but that's where physical similarities between Holloway and most of his teammates end, for a powerful reason: Holloway only has one hand.

As reported by CNN and ABC affiliates, Holloway was born without a left hand; his left arm ends just below his elbow. While Holloway's parents were instantly concerned with his development, the toddler moved on without much problem, teaching himself how to crawl, then walk and then, incredibly, how to hit a ball by himself by the age of 2.

"He got plastic balls and he would hold them under his chin and drop them and swing the bat," Malou Holloway told CNN. "And he would hit the ball, no problem."

Now, some four years later Holloway is playing the sport he dreamed of for the fourth consecutive year. Yes, Holloway began playing organized baseball on a team at the age of 3.

So, how has he adapted in the years since? The 6-year-old can swing, field and motor around the base paths with the best of them. As long as his shoe doesn't come untied, Holloway may be as difficult as anyone his age in Georgia to get out.

Television rights continue to skyrocket across the sports spectrum, and now high school sports in California can officially be counted among the winners after details of a recent contract between the California Interscholastic Federation and Time Warner Cable were released.

As noted by the Los Angeles Times, a new 15-year pact between CIF and Time Warner grants the cable carrier's networks exclusive rights to televise all state championships for a fee of -- wait for it -- $8.5 million. Yes, you read that correctly: California's state title games, like the football game involving Fontana (Calif.) Summit High, above, are reportedly worth an average of more than $550,000 per year.

Keep in mind that these rights are only for state championships; it won't include any regular-season contests, which any regional sports networks can negotiate with individual districts and regions by themselves.

According to details from the pact obtained by the Times, the contract will pay CIF $550,000 in its first year and then include a built-in increase of 4 percent per year throughout the next 14 years of the contract.

While those sums might seem extreme, one of the industry's top consultants insisted that the deal actually represented good value for Time Warner in the ever-competitive arena of burgeoning rights fees.

There are dominant performances, and then there are games like the one put up by Poland (Ohio) Seminary softball pitcher Erin Gabriel. On Monday night, Gabriel led her Poland Seminary squad to a 2-1 victory against Delray Beach (Fla.) American Heritage School in 16 innings. Here's the most impressive part: Gabriel pitched all 16 innings, and she struck out 34 batters in the process.

Yes, you read that correctly: A softball pitcher recorded 34 strikeouts in a single game. That's an average of more than two punch-outs per inning, even as the contest stretched beyond the length of a second entire game.

According to the Palm Beach Post, the victory was Poland Seminary's fourth of the season, helping reinforce the program's No. 12 national ranking from ESPN.

There should be little doubt that Gabriel is the largest reason for that. The senior was both the 2010 and 2011 Gatorade Ohio Softball Player of the Year and was a member of the 2010-11 U.S. Junior National Team, where she was the youngest member of the team. She also won an U-18 gold medal at the 2010 Pan American Games.

For Gabriel and her teammates, Monday's victory against a fellow nationally ranked American Heritage squad was a big step toward the program's ultimate goal of an undefeated season, an end result which will be tested again on Tuesday with a game against the nation's second-ranked team, Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) High. Given the sheer number of innings and pitches that Gabriel tossed on Monday, Poland Spring will probably have to scrap for the win without her on the mound.

A nasty on-field brawl following a Texas boys soccer playoff game led to the hospitalization of three student athletes and an ongoing investigation into both teams as one moves forward in the playoffs.

As reported by the Associated Press, CrossroadsToday.com, the Victoria Advocate and San Antonio Express-News, among other sources, a University Interscholastic League Class 4A third round playoff game between Harlandale (Texas) High and Victoria (Texas) East High ended in extreme acrimony when a fist fight broke out between players of the two teams as players walked through a traditional postgame handshake line.

CrossroadsToday.com reported that eyewitnesses claimed Harlandale players started the violent skirmish, and they appeared to get the best of it, as well. Two Victoria East players were sent to a nearby hospital in San Antonio, one with a broken nose. Additionally, Victoria East head coach Tim Eaton was "sucker punched" by a Harlandale player, according to Victoria East assistant coach Brady Cagle.

According to the Advocate, the two hospitalized East players -- David Andrade and Esau Lopez -- were released from the hospital a day after the brawl without any signs of lasting injuries, though a Victoria East coach claimed the victims were considering legal action. Naturally, that hardly eased the disappointment and shock of Victoria East players and coaches after what should have been a simple celebration of a playoff victory devolved into mass delirium.

Harlandale officials moved quickly to assert that they will be launching a thorough investigation into the ugly postgame victory, with a future verdict on the incident to be filed by Harlandale Independent School District itself.

"The actions of our players are unacceptable," Harlandale ISD said in a statement to the media. "Upon a complete review of all the information gathered, we will take appropriate action concerning all parties involved.

"Harlandale ISD is taking this incident very seriously. It is not a reflection of who we are or what we stand for as a community."

The age of robotic sports may be coming, but it's not quite here, at least just yet.

As reported by the Seattle Times' Mason Kelley, an elaborate free-throw shooting contest was held in the Seattle (Wash.) Lindbergh High gymnasium, where Lindbergh hoops star Jimmy Keum was pitted against a school-built robot named "Air Ball." The result of six weeks of work by the Lindbergh robotics team, Air Ball was designed to make every free throw it takes.

It did that on Friday, but it also failed to put up as many shots as Keum, who unofficially won the contest by hitting more free throws than Air Ball, though his shooting percentage may not have been as perfect as the robot's.

"I thought it was pretty intimidating, because they had been working on it for a while," Keum told the Times. "It's a machine. I thought it would be automatic. I guess I won one for mankind."

Still, the robotics group's president made it clear that the robotics team didn't feel the effort was for a loss, either.

Usually, a coach will want to spend more time with a struggling team. Evidently that wasn't the case in Pleasant Grove, Utah, where the Pleasant Grove (Utah) High boys soccer coach Chris Ecalono walked out on his team a day before his team faced a near make-or-break region game.

Interestingly, the move was a strategically motivated one, with Ecalono hoping to inspire a sink-or-swim team spirit among his squad by simply leaving them to sort out their issue themselves. According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the move followed two losses to open up region play in what is generally considered Utah's hardest area.

Incredibly, taking the coaches out of the equation seems to have worked like a charm. A day after leaving team captains to run practice in the coaches' stead, Pleasant Grove rolled to a 4-1 victory against American Fork (Utah) High on the road, keeping alive the program's hopes of resurrecting a flagging season.

"It sounds like a cliché: 'We came together as a team,'" Ecalono told the Tribune. "But we actually did that."

In February, Prep Rally brought you the amazing story of a California prep soccer game which needed an astounding 50 penalty kicks (and two days) before it could be decided. While that game may still take the cake when it comes to longest shootouts, a Texas playoff brought up an even more impressive statistic for one player in particular: Rockwall (Texas) High girls soccer goalie Miranda Larkin stopped 14 of 16 penalty shots she faced in leading her squad to the regional quarterfinals in a victory against Wylie (Texas) East High.

That's right: Larkin kept out all but two shots she faced in the crucible of a playoff shootout. Incredibly, the unnamed Wylie East girls soccer goalie stopped 13 attempts herself, creating what must be one of the most unsuccessful shootouts in recent prep soccer history.

Of course, that takes nothing away from Larkin or her Wylie East cohort, both of whom were nothing less of remarkable. In fact, Wylie East coaches even argued that the shootout should have continued because Rockwall allegedly bent traditional shootout rules to score the winning goal, taking more than the allowed time to make an attempt.

That hardly could keep Rockwall coach Melissa Garcia from raving about her keeper and the remarkable number of stops she made when she was interviewed by the Dallas Morning News.

Just when you thought that the high school basketball all-star games had cranked out all the ridiculous dunks imaginable, a top prospect goes out and mixes gymnastics with basketball to turn out a pretty remarkable slam.

The player you see winning a dunk contest in the video above -- which was first dug up by Rivals.com Louisville affiliate CardinalSports -- is Marcus Smart, one of the nation's top small forward prospects headed for Oklahoma State in fall 2012. For now Smart is still technically representing Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus High School, the squad he starred for over the past two years and led to a state title as a senior.

Usually, Smart is the best athlete on the court by a mile. Yet, in the Kentucky Derby Festival All-Star Classic Dunk Contest, Smart found himself pitted against Louisville signee Terry Rozier, the Shaker Heights (Ohio) High superstar who had wowed the crowd with a series of earlier dunks.

Smart was going to have to pull off something special to win the event, so he ad-libbed a slam that would showcase his freakish athleticism. First, Smart completed a full forward flip in stride, then took a pitch-perfect alley-oop off the backboard and finished with a  full reverse flush.

In short, it was one heck of a dunk.
